Suunto 9 Discounts
-
@cosmecosta I believe S9 started shipping in August 2018. I’ve bought mine in August 2019 with a great discount already

Yes I also bought mine with a big discount, in fact I bought it in Amazon cheaper that the price that it has now. When talking about big discounts I like to use Suunto’s web page as reference or tendency. As an example, I bought my SSU some months before the S9B was launched and it already has big discounts in Suunto’s web, of course I bought it even cheaper in Amazon but the case was that it was discounted in Suunto’s web and this is not the case for the S9B now. This means something regarding a new product launch date? Probably yes if we think about product stock or not if they already are low on stock.
I have a friend that works in one very big sports online shop, they have increased their invoicing in more than 50% during Corona lock-down and he told me that manufacturers, lots of them have broken their stocks. I thought it was only for home training but he has told me that also for outdoor activities, with this I also see normal that Suunto has run out of S9 units.
All this is my guessing so could be that I am totally wrong

@zvonejan I thought it was announced earlier, but shipping in August.

Available to buy from end of june 2018. Check old (and almost retired) forum for Suunto
-
@cosmecosta that’s not accurate…multiple 9 baro versions are 30% off.
-
@stromdiddily yeah. But not all. Standard black and white no discount. Wonder if there will be something very soon oder later. So excited. Very happy with my S9B. But I think of buying G2 if it kicks ass…
Most spekulativ for me is, if it is a S7 (display, wear OS) with today’s S9 characteristics, battery… I would also think of updated OHR with oxymeter…
-
good for everything, but hopefully not wearOS
-
@stromdiddily These offers are regional, don’t apply in every market. Here the Spanish web shop without discount:

It seems that also the5krunner is betting on a new S9 arriving soon:
My suspicion is that we will see a Suunto 9 Gen2 and a Suunto 5 Gen 2 as well as a few more onboard software features at the same time. I don’t know the naming nomenclature – be it Gen 2 or 2020 or v2. We will see software features also continuously added to the Suunto 7 Wear OS app, all I know there is that Suunto is ‘considering’ the omissions that have been raised by users but that no roadmap is available for our eyes.

@cosmecosta That grey s9b is amazing.
@isazi looks like good times are coming after all this lock down…
Simple as ABC.
-
@cosmecosta let me know if you want me to buy one for you and ship your way
-
I recently picked up a S9 Baro Gold Leather, think I got around a 20% discount on it. Easily the best looking S9 I have owned
-
Any news/hints about newcomer?
-
probably in the first half of june, like always (every two years)
-
@MiniForklift If I was to purchase another, it would be Copper! My favorite finish. But have to admit, the Gold is awesome.

@dulko79 I think we need to be realistic about new devices from anyone. The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains worldwide and now because of stay at home and lockdowns implemented world wide, the companies that sell those devices are unlikely to have the personnel to test, (assemble in Suunto’s case) and provide the final development necessary. Not to mention distribution of the devices. I think all manufacturers devices will be delayed by this and I think most development is likely moving more slowly than intended. I hope that the smaller companies survive and my thoughts go out to the employees that are affected now and will be affected in the coming year or longer…
-
Would it be possible that Suunto 7 already one of the two years upgrade and next new product will be 2022?
-
@Kai-Liu there will always be new products be introduced as long as the company exists.
It does not make sense to speculate and wait.

Releasing a new watch would require some major improvement like a new chip, lower power consumption, lower core voltage etc. I do not see anything at horizon that would matter for endurance sports except maybe for some new ideas on kinetic energy recharging.
GPS chipsets are at pretty much same offering as at s9b launch two years ago. And Sony leads other by a large margin in power consumption.
