If you search the forum, you’ll find that almost (maybe all) of your doubts/questions/complaints were already discussed.
Please find those threads so you can join the discussion and gather more information about it

Some functionalities are already available in the beta version of the app (e.g. calendar view by year)

      SVTS - 2.40.38
      SSSWHR BARO Amber - 2.8.32
      Samsung A5 2016 - Android 7.0
      Samsung A33 2022 - Android 14 - One UI 6.1
      Suunto App Android 5.2.5 beta
Suunto App IOs 2.45.0 (19123) beta on MBP M1

@sartoric I found a few similar posts but without any helpful information. It would be much better to get a current status about the things I am missing if there is one.

I think what you’re about to learn is that you made a mistake giving up the Movescount app. I wish I had been able to download it before it was taken off the App Store.

Suunto App sucks bad for anyone without the latest watches. Maybe it will change???

            • What features in MC are you missing?

            • I believe that you can adjust GPS settings now directly on the watch as Power Saving

            • The Suunto App allows you to add and change screens for sport modes and set up custom sport modes.

            • Alpine Skiing and Downhill Mtn Bike stock modes should not count the uphill ascents,

            • I had duplicates too, did you check MC, turned out that my duplicates came from MC where I had duplicates already or had the exercise in SA and then modified it either on MC or SA.

            • Suunto has been clear on the Web issue, check the forums.

            • The summaries are there, you should run the latest beta app

              • I am missing a Web Frontend, the yearly summary, better Sports mode customization, feature parity with Movescount, …
              • I found no way to set the Altitude settings (Baro, GPS+Baro, GPS)
              • I thought it might be more advanced, but I am still limited in the number of screens
              • It does count the uphill ascents - I have way too much in the months where I did Alpine Skiing
              • I never had any duplicates in MC
              • I know and I read the threads in advance, but I am wondering why Suunto doesn’t listen to its customers?
              • I just upgraded to the latest version and the Altitude Gain is missing per activity (as it is missing in Monthly and Weekly

                They do!
They just don’t follow every single person’s advice, as these don’t all match.
And as in any other company there is product management involved that evaluates what makes most sense for best success.
Sometimes the voices of individuals are overheard this way - but this is how it works…

Obviously uphill stats for alpine skiing are not the #1 priority. We have to live with it - plus I suggest you go ski touring instead taking the chairlift! 😛

How do you do that, add a display? -just a general question, I personally am totally fine number of displays-
When generating a custom sports mode I can:

                  • change a display
                  • delete a display
                  • (add a display only if I deleted a display in advance)

In other words in a custom sports mode the number of displays is limited. (e.g. in running to 4)
I can not create a custom running sports mode with 5 displays.
And all this is only true for custom sports modes, the (standard) sports modes are not editable.

You are correct with all you write (intervals would be another display). This is how to create custom sport modes - now what is the question? How to add a 6th desplay? Not possible as you found out.

@Bryan-Cook For the moment at least, it is possible to use Suunto App on the phone and Movescount on the web, provided you don’t touch routes or watch screens in SA. I believe you can restore your access to Movescount Web by hard resetting your watch – but please research that before you try anything, because I’ve not done this myself.

SA is always going to suck because it’s a phone app, simple as. Admittedly it’s an improvement over Movescount APP, but nothing that forces you to use a tiny touchscreen is ever going to be an adequate replacement for a web frontend. It boggles the mind that Suunto doesn’t seem to realise this.

@Mathias-Spoerr “Why do they force users to using the App although it is limited and not ready yet?”

They have a death wish? 😉 If they follow through on their intent to kill Movescount Web this summer, I expect to be using Garmin or Polar before the year’s out.

@RiphRaph I totally agree that a Web interface is needed. That is why we have QS, which is free! And many other 3rd party Websites that import data from SA and offer functionality that MC did not have and likely would not have developed. I cannot adequately track training stress in MC, nor could I plan workouts easily, it was somewhat cumbersome. I can do that now and I can draw and plan a route on any device I want, it is dead simple to sync to my watch. In my opinion opening up to 3rd parties was one of the best decisions Suunto made.

                                      …and…as stated by Dimitrois
"I think I need to iterate this over one more time. Voted topics are presented in the cross-chanel consumer feedback and are taken into account for feature prioritisation / weight.

However that does not mean that because a topic has 1M votes it will be implemented.

                                      I hope this is clear.

Typically in these long threads, people come back to add little value since there is none to be added here except voting. About 859 comments (or more) have I think covered the subject of a webinterface."

Can we please stop beating a dead horse and move on?

@Brad_Olwin No. Just no. I’m sure QS is a very fine interface, but Movescount Web was a significant factor in my decision to purchase the Spartan and arbitrarily discontinuing the service without offering an equivalent alternative is just not an acceptable way to treat customers. Even TomTom still has its sports watch web interface up and running – and TomTom is no longer even developing wearables!

Opening up to third party services may have been a great move on Suunto’s part, but scuppering its own web interface is an absolutely terrible one. And I really don’t see that this necessarily had to be an either-or thing. They could have given their customers both options in parallel, at least for several years.

@Brad_Olwin Absolutely. Moving on in the next few months, or possibly weeks. The only question is whether to Garmin or to Polar. 😜

@Brad_Olwin said in Migration to Suunto App in 04/2020 and very unhappy with the result:

In my opinion opening up to 3rd parties was one of the best decisions Suunto made.

Sure, no doubt about it, but the worst one is to move its customers to a platform that doesn’t offer the same basic feature set as the old one 😉
