Battery LIfe

@meazzas9 There is definitely something strange going on here. I have just had a new best of 56hrs of battery life from my S7 (no activity tracking during that time, just used as smartwatch).
This is still with my usual settings:
AoD off
power saver tilt
many notifications
24/7 HR on
sleep tracking on
etc.You mention that it is a Bluetooth bug that only happens now and then. I wonder if this could be related to something on the phone? Maybe there is an overly aggressive power setting on the phone that is killing the connection to the watch, thus causing the watch to hunt for a connection? This would cause it to drain the battery quickly?
Just a thought…
-
@olymay the next step is a reset of the phone and if that weren’t enough I will change phones
-
@meazzas9 check the power/battery settings in the phone first, it could be a simple fix that doesn’t require a reset.
Worth a try.
If unsure, do a Google search for battery optimisation on your specific phone.
Make sure it isn’t killing WearOS or the Suunto App (i think WearOS migt be the important one here)

@steff Hi there
Just got my S7 three days ago and I already charged it like three times between playing around checking the apps……
Today, I charged it to 100% at 7am it’s 13:30pm and my battery went down to 85% without any usage?!
It says I have one day left.
Watch idle 3%
Android System 2%
Android OS 1%
Bluetooth 1%Is this normal?
I have raise to wake off
Screen is also off
No Wifi
No NFC
Brightness on Auto
Auto app update offUsing Suunto Stock face
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks -
@optics-field-test WearOS (as with Android on pones) takes roughly a week to fully settle down and to adjust to your typical usage. This is part of the adaptive battery and means the first few days will not be representative of true battery life.
If after a week you still get poor battery life then it is worth looking at. But in the mean time it’s nothing to worry about.
-
@olymay Hi,
Thank you mate for the swift response and reassurance.
I hope the battery will improve, I will certainty give it a week and see if things improve. So far it seems worst then my my Apple Watch S6.
Btw the watch arrived dead with no battery at all. Not sure if this bad or not?
Finger crossed!
Thanks
-
@optics-field-test I typically get an easy 48hrs from a charge (although recently i’ve been getting well over 50!)
I have:
Always on display OFF
tilt to wake OFF
Power saver tilt ON
Touch to wake OFF
Auto update ON
WiFi ON
NFC ON
Continuous HR ON
Sleep tracking ON
And plenty of notifications throughout the dayAlthough recently I haven’t been doing any activity tracking due to an injury. Obviously, activity tracking (especially if using GPS) will affect the battery life.
You should be easily outlasting any Apple Watch with battery life.
I got my S7 over 18 months ago, so I can’t remember how it arrived in the box, sorry.
-
@olymay WAW that sounds great!
I am crossing my fingers that mine gets to this stage of battery life.
I guess like all smart watches they need time to settle down. Finger crossed.
Did your watch also had worst battery the first couple of days??
Thanks

@olymay today i try a reset of the phone … the bluetooth problem drains my battery too fast.
I update you -
@meazzas9 what operating system are you using? Android or IOS.
My watch sometimes it disconnect too easily from my IPhone. Only 10 meters away and it’s disconnected.
I probably should have wifi on Auto but it does kill the battery especially when using for Google store. I tend now update or install an app only if my watch is on charge

I update youHave you checked the power settings of the phone? Some phone manufactures use aggressive app management to extent battery life. Make sure there isn’t anything killing the Bluetooth connection or the WearOS app.

@optics-field-test #
Normal usage battery life is anywhere from 1.8 to 2.7% / hr depending on settings and usage. So yes well within the norms, especially as most peoples first week isn’t really normal usage as you are using the watch far more than you normally would, and that beautiful screen loves to suck up the battery. -
@olymay there are no connection cut settings … everything is fine
-
@optics-field-test I use android, reset the phone but the problem remains … the bluetooth is very energy consuming

It looks like you are using a Samsung phone, they are well known for aggressive battery and RAM management which can kill processes in the background.
Check the battery optimisation settings for WearOS and Bluetooth, make sure they are set to unrestricted.I haven’t used a Samsung phone for years, so are there are any Samsung users here who can help more?

@olymay I checked and it looks like the culprit was that I had another Suunto traverse lying near by and powered on. Since I removed the Bluetooth connexion of the traverse and reset the S7 to factory things have been working flawlessly. Also, my battery seem to be amazing now. Off the charge at 9am at 6pm still on 80% with few notifications and checking body battery every now and again. All good so far! Happy days

@flypg Thays good to hear
Like I said, it’s been a while since I’ve had a Samsung and they used to kill apps very aggressively (although not as bad as the OnePlus I had before that!).
I’m glad to hear that at least key apps are being whitelisted from these lists.
-
@olymay I deleted my previous post because is whitelisted but if you intentionally request, could unblock and add by error the app to some battery optimization mode
