Future S9 firmware wishlist summary
-
@g287-sf Well, at least they have a windsurfing integration built-in.
https://www.gps-speedsurfing.com/default.aspx?mnu=item&item=corosSo that would be a pro for me but unfortunately the list of cons is a bit longer.
-
@g287-sf Coros doesn’t do much for me, but I find my Garmin Tactix Delta sexy as hell! Doesn’t stop me cheating on her with the S9B on a regular basis though…
-
@surfboomerang honestly the S9 is a great tool for sure.
-The GPS seems to work good, the GPS battery endurance isn’t bad at all. Maybe it’ll be great to reach the 60h in full gps mode like other brand, it should be the firmware not the battery i think.
-Your display isn’t the one with the best definition but it’s clearly readable especially under sunlight who is great for outdoors use.
-We really miss the ability to change your watchface and it will be great to find a way to add them maybe with a cable and computer, to improve the customisation. I’m sure it’s possible to do maybe with a third application. Suunto should ask developper even from other companies if they can’t do it by themselves.
-
The lock function is just a joke. The old traverse alpha from 2016 can do it…
-
It will be cool to set the sport mode completely directly on the phone, save it and synchronise it. Like this you haven’t to set it manually every time. By this way it will easy to use and increase button life to.
-
Have an hydratation reminder by a notification czn be great because when we work, i’m sure most of us forget it. During activity it can be cool to but not neccessary.
Finally it’s just minor point to improve to make those S9 /S9baro the real Suunto product they should be it. And top product, better than garmin, polar…
Other brand have many usefull thing. We have chose this S9 because it’s real outdoor watch.
It should last bette than other due to the No wear os update, who should kill watch in 2/3 years. -

…and have it backed up…
-
@freeheeler maybe @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos can do something about it ?
-
@g287-sf
I think he is not almighty at Suunto… but I can imagine he would like to push things the same way we would want to -
@freeheeler his signature say " android developper @Suunto" so is was thinking he can do something. I was wrong
-
@g287-sf
no, I think you’re 100% right. He CAN do something and I bet a lot he is also skilled enough to be able to do it… but is he allowed to?!
I say this as I am (on what I’m doing) mechanically at a point where I see potential improvements on a mechanism but the superiors don’t want us to improve it. -
I’ve had some very wild fantasies today: an alti graph during activity, same as breadcrumbs, but for altitude… what do you think ladies and gentlemen?
-
@freeheeler I think you can add that as a screen already can’t you?
Would be nice to 1) be able to customize what is shown on the graph 2) have more than 4 screens
-
@stromdiddily
yes, 4 screens is limiting… actually it’s 3 screens as the 4th is breadcrumb by default afair.
the graph is for HR only if I understand it correct.
It would be cool to have the alti graph e.g. when activating S+ climb app -
@freeheeler you can happily have an alti graph - just you can’t change the colour of it, so it defaults to red. I have a loose request to change that here.
-
@the_77
is it?! hectic!
didn’t know that… but I also don’t want to sacrifice any other screen for that
on some activities, like ski touring, I would sacrifice breadcrumbs… I’ll have a think about that.
thanks mate -
@freeheeler the only downside is that the history of data is very short in that graph. 20-30mins if I recall correctly.
-

What is breadcrumbs ? When i use google translate it’s show me this
I think it’s not the good translation -
@g287-sf
it’s the track of points that you can see when you flip thru the screens… -
@g287-sf The dots you leave behind you on the “map” screen. From people wandering into the woods leaving a trail of literal breadcrumbs to find their way out. Or clumsy schnitzel fans.
“Piste de navigation” or “fil d’Ariane”[??] crop up in translation. “Petit Poucet” in the Manual.
-
@fenr1r thank you i understand !
-
@g287-sf
Well, in fact it isn’t really wrong -
@sartoric
yes it is also the itchy stuff when you eat cookies in bed
