Spartan update complains

@Paolo-Faverio said in Spartan update complains:
@roma12_7 me too
maybe all …

-
Spartan watch will have certainly there last update !!!
-
@roma12_7 only time will tell you if it’s the last, but the fact that Suunto is working to fix a bug on something people said it was abandoned and not supported anymore means, literally, Spartans are still supported.
-
@isazi I think having the correct date on a watch which cost 500€ is a minimum. And I think it would be certainly the last update on spartan watch except spartan user found a new incomprehensible bug on the watch like unable to say the right time or something like that
-
@roma12_7 There could be charity updates for Suunto/Finnish special occasions that simply raise the Spartans’ displayed FW version to the contemporary Sx level. And do nothing else whatsoever. I wonder how much work that would require. Call it pity firmware.
-
@roma12_7 but again, that would be the definition of still supporting something. If bugs are fixed, the device is supported. All bugs are fixed? Probably impossible, there are analysts deciding which bug makes sense to fix for a device that has a certain age, but still there is a bug that is deemed serious by Suunto and a fix is coming for Spartans.
-
Last update on spartan and the 9 for the same bug is proof that suunto 9 and spartan are the same watches. Suunto don’t put last function on spartan because they want to sell more suunto 9. But spartan user will remember when they have to change their sports watches.
-
@roma12_7 I understand that spartan line cannot get latest premium features of s9, but at least expect some crumbs of s9, correcting bugs and some facelifts. I still have dead notifications from missed phone calls. This last update cleared that notifications but probably new will come soon.
-
@bbx100 The only difference between spartan sport WHR baro and S9 is the sony chipset GPS and a spahire glass. Last function on S9 could work without problem on a spartan because they have same hardware. I think the best way to change suunto’s behavior is to show his dissatisfaction on social network
-
@roma12_7 I totally aggre with you, just wanted to write the same comment! The NY2020 “friday” bug confirmed it! From my Spartan user point of view, they have the same menu screens, same watch faces, also the same bugs so Suunto don’t tell me the Spartan firmware can not get some more SW functions from S9! Probably the HW is not 100% the same (chip, battery, etc), but I’m sure that Spartan is capable to run the S9 new functions. If not, Suunto should give us some reasonable explanation, why (technical reasons, not only the company policy) the Spartan series can not be further improved with already developed functions. Easy work, isn’t it? I have not heard anything reasonable about it!
Suunto just don’t want… end of story. -
@bbx100 It was not the FW update, who cleared the dead notifications, but the restart of watches. There is the trick to hold the upper button for 12sec - then the watch will reboot and the dead notifications have gone But it’s a workaround.
-
@radous78 Yes, I’m aware that fw update didn’t clear dead notifications but restart of the watch did. It is unpractical to hold upper button for 12 seconds every time I have dead notification which doesn’t go away by itself.
Now Suunto 7 is out, most of the programming resources will go toward Suunto S line (S9, S7 and other new watches.) so less for spartans. And now I hear that Finnish prime minister is up for shortening of the working week from 5 days 8 hours to 4 days and 6 hours. So how will they implement new features (with that working time) on old watches when Suunto is lagging behind the competitors even with new stuff and suunto app… -
@bbx100 arent you happy that at least some countries finally break the labor ?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Of course I’m happy, but also I have to look on the other side of that decision for us users of Suunto app and older watches :).
We, who live in other countries in which that decision is light years away are looking with curiosity and best wishes for a such measure to succeed -
The idea is work less(each one), work more (more people). Productivity will not be interessed, i suppose
-
@bbx100 Oh man, just in a develop country can dream with 4 days labour, 6 hours like Finland. For us it’s a dream! You can produce more in a organized enterprise. Many of IT work in our days can be done at home via internet connection. For company is better. Don’t waste electricity, water, and so on. For worker, you don’t spent hours of your life in car traffic, you work in your space and give more family support. Even you can make meetings with skype with your team. You can live in Tibet and as long you have a good internet connection and no firewall, you can work for Suunto or other. Labour today is very different. To be present is reach targets of work and not to be physical in work place.
-
I hope they spend much of the extra time enjoying the remote areas of their lovely country and return to work with a new commitment to a better-than-Garmin NAVIGATION FUNCTION. But who am I kidding. It’s gonna be rallying, saunas and maybe a drink. Unless TV has lied to me.
-
Have you seen the new Suunto 7 preview? I’m really amazed, it has all what I ever wanted from the sport watch and also many users calling for here for long time. Offline maps, OTA updates, 24h activity tracking, etc…
If it looks and performs as declared in preview and marketing videos, it could be the competitor for Fenix 6 for a half price.
It seems that finally changing the watch firmware to Google OS is the only way for Suunto, how to keep in touch with the top sportwatch market, that is developing quickly. -
@radous78 except Fenix 6 has the battery life you expect from a sport watch.
-
@radous78
they are two watches practically poles apart. We await the next generation of suunto 9 for the real opponent of fenix 6. Some ideas from suunto 7 (who said heat maps?), Which however remains a smartwatch, I hope it will be taken
