Syncing problems Ambit3 with iPhone11

@isazi I do not know what is your role in this suunto based forum. I totaly understand what @pcarval said as i am suffering the same situation for almost a year now. If i were working for suunto i would not dare to argue with an angry customer which is right. I was promised by suunto that i would be able to upload my activities using an app, and when they discontinued the movescount app we thought that the new suunto app would do the job, and it does not and no one is doing anything serious in the company. Otherwise they would have come with a solution long time ago.
The only thing we have had is a “solution based in using a beta version of an app, tapping seven times somewhere in the phone, and entering in “debug” mode to do something I do not understand” every time I need to syncronize. By the way some people already said it does not work, and you say this is acandidate to solve the problem ?. I hope there is a better solution. -

This is not “the solution” , it is a way in which Suunto programmers are debugging the issue and looking for a solution that can be rolled into production and finally solve the issue.

I asked this personally and here its a community forum and not support. Even as a Suunto employee that I became recently (sept) this is not my work here.
@isazi is a moderator voted by the community in the previous call for moderators.
Regarding to what I asked from all the people here, only one person answered and his watch, is now on it’s way to investigate what is going to cut a long story short.
Now, while I do understand your position and frustration, I would like to gently remind you once again that this is a community forum.
If i were working for suunto i would not dare to argue with an angry customer which is right.
That doesn’t belong to @isazi nor here please.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thanks again for your help!
But it’s true that’s for an issue a year old it’s a bit weird that Suunto had to wait for an user to send their own Suunto watch to debug this
And anyway a year long issue that is blocking something like activities sync is really sad… again I completely understand that this could be tricky to fix and that Suunto wants to concentrate development effort on new features for new watches and Suunto app, not spend time on compatibility issue with older hardware.
But some communication around that would have been nice, like we have now, so there’s hope! With iOS 14 update I couldn’t get activities to sync anymore
I’ll wipe the watch clean (I had long activities trying to sync) and retry.(I also tried on an iPhone 7 with iOS 14 but I couldn’t get pairing to work :s.)

I’ve upgraded my 1st gen SE to iOS 14.0 and my Suunto app is on version 1.60.0 (8364) and bluetooth connection seems pretty stable so far. I’ve been on a break so no activity recorded to try syncing, but will begin a new training session from tomorrow, then will check that too. GPS optimization and notification delivery are so far spot on. Before the upgrade on iOS 13.7 sync worked for me without any hiccups with the latest Suunto app, the only problem I had occasionally lost connection with the watch and I needed to turn off/on BT from the phone. Interestingly notification went through even when Suunto app showed not connected.
-
The same situation here, Ambit3 Sport won’t work with iPhone 11 Pro when I changed the phone.

+1 this is completely broken. Rather than patronizing and fleecing the community (they recently dropped the price enticing new customers to buy a broken product), it would be better to make progress here and retain loyalty.
This is likely a Bluetooth issue. Based on past experience with iOS phones and cars (Bluetooth connectivity), Apple tends to update HW/SW to better align with the Bluetooth spec, breaking early implementations (not uncommon in the connectivity and router space).
How about you a) acknowledge the problem - a brand new Ambit3 watch does not pair well with latest iOS phones, even after resets, unpairing, firmware syncs (both apps), phone reboots, etc, etc, etc. And b) will not sync with the app. We know this is a Bluetooth spec issue since iPad works fine. Fix your software per specs and stop giving customers the runaround for years and enticing new business to procure broken product.
-
@ace575 I think @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos understood and acknowledged this issue: clearly a Bluetooth connection issue between newer iPhone / iOS and the Ambit3.
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos does Suunto have like a bug tracking platform where we can check progress on this issue ?
And yes the fact that the watch is still on sale on the Suunto website without any disclaimer clearly bothers me a little
With the latest Suunto app beta version : pairing works on iPhone SE 2020 and iPhone 7.
But I could not get activities to sync on either phone. Could not export raw files from the debug menu though like you asked @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos it just fails continuously -
@benoitg hi with what message does it fail. If you reached that point please PM me and I can help communicating this and getting this solved with Suunto. Please send me a pm here or at ext_dimitrios.kanellopoulos@suunto.com
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos ok I will next time I have an activity to sync.
But don’t you have watches, phones, testing procedures at Suunto ? This issue is reproducible easily -
@benoitg well honestly for us it aint. Else I would not be asking. Thats why the first person who tried this already now has his watch back to Finland (Suunto) asap.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos …Hi…is there a solution in sight for a little frustrated Ambit 3 Sapphire User with IPhone XS iOS 14.01? Bluetooth doesn‘t work here! Suunto Software of course also not!
The „funny thing“:
My old Ipad Air 2 with iOS 12.4.1 has got no problem…Bluetooth works! But: I do not dare to change here my working MC with Suunto.appI tried everything like disconnect/forget Bluetooth/tried to pair again on Iphone > no reaction!
Reaction would be kindly appreciated!
Kalinichta and thx for any kind of help!

Maybe related/not related, but I came across today that Polar acknowledge that the V800 will likely fail to pair most of the time with the new iPhone generations, and as such they are not fully compatible.
Given the V800 release is from the same year as the Ambit 3, might be a related issue? Just a thought.
-
Same problem with IPhone XS and no Sync possible anymore. With IPhone 6 before and IPad Air 2 it works. Support doesn‘t response!
-
Same here with iPhone XS. Ambit is useless.
-
Guys…this is not ambit only…Look at garmin forums…same problems…polar the same…

Still working via Suuntolink? Can I synchronize moves to Suunto app installed on iPhone 11 via cable and Suuntolink? Everything is getting worse with Ambits…

Yeah, why not, if you sync with cable you can see your moves in the Suunto app on your phone.
