Suunto Traverse Alpha or Sunto Ambit 3 Sport ?
-
What time should I decide on a Suunto Ambit 3 Sport or Suuto Traverse Alpha? Cycling, walking into the hills, which would be more appropriate and why?
Thanks for the tips! -
OK, I will bite.
The Traverse looks better IMO and has a better shell+glass. BUT you’ll probably get better GPS out of the Ambit 3 Sport and have more sport mode options with more active displays.
But I don’t know how both of these will fair in the software department and all this Movescount/SuuntoApp sh** that has been going on for far too long now.
None of the newer watches interest you? Or any other brand?

@fejker
traverse alpha has a baro, ambit3 sport does’t.
depends what he wants to do with the watch? -
@TELE-HO
Yes but as he mentioned he is into cycling which the Traverse isn’t well supported for. But yes, I totally agree, depends on what you want to do. I would never go for a watch without a baro for example … but on the other hand I would never go for a watch that doesn’t have the cycling features I need … like power and cadence readouts from the connected sensors. But then we are talking about watches in the higher price category, not the 200-400€ ones. -
its suunto app forum ! Dudes?
I will suggest op to buy a SSU or s9
-
@fejker
second hand ambit3 peak sapphire…
it will last forever… at least the watch itself -
@zhang965
that’s the other option, just buy an s9b and be happy with the flagship -
No I mean you can not suggest someone to get a out of date model that Suunto app doesn’t support ?
-
@zhang965
yes I know what you mean… but it’s still sold and nowhere mentioned it’s phaseout… -
The Ambit3S behaves very well in measuring the altitude even without having the barometer, I compared it several times in 60-70k races with the Ambit3 Peak without too many differences… about 150 m less than the total 2400

Movescount
I am already interested in new clocks, I am just a pensioner who unfortunately cannot afford it. Movescount is really not good, I can see it after that because it doesn’t tolerate the state of the steps that are only visible on the clock. I will test both hours and keep one that will be better. Thanks for the reply.

@jahtba
if you have very good eyes and you can handle watch setup from the tiny phone screen you can always go for a secondhand watch from the s-line in case stepcounter (we discuss this again??) is important for you.
for me it is something I notice every now and then and if I could I would disable stepcounter. -
@jahtba
maybe you can look at s5, seems to be a dedicated bike watch and it is the way forward… not the cheapest on the market but soon snow and santa comesedit: maybe not so dedicated bike but multisport… but suunto marketing makes me think like this

@TELE-HO @jahtba just thinking exactly same, take a look on S5
