What to use: SA or Movescount?
-
Hello. I assume there is nowhere a side-by-side comparison chart what Suunto App, Movescount & App do or will support and what is definitely NOT bought from Movescount to Suunto App. I will get a Suunto 9 Baro soon (today/tomorrow ) and have to decide what to use with this watch. It will be mainly used for running, T&F workout, trail running, hiking and some swimming (open water). My requirements are:
.) configure activities (display,…)
.) upload tracks (planning is done outside Suunto stuff)
.) some simple structured workouts
.) configure all settings for the watch which cannot be changed on it directlyThat’s the important stuff. Any suggestions for me what to choose and why? Thank You.

SA, the only option that make sense, since there is a migration process from Movescount to SA and MC is being discontinued

I know about this and the transition period. My question is more: can SA cover my needs NOW? I have no problem by starting with MC and move to SA later if only MC can cover that right now.

I’m staying with Movescount as long as possible (as a Ambit 3 user I do not really have any option). Having SA on phone.
My suggestion is to go with SA. Then you won’t be disappointed when Movescount is shut down.

I think by the time MC is shut down SA will be keeping up with MC. I am also an A3 user and I use SA and MC side by side. I would like to be up to date with the SA development progresses and want to learn all possibilities of SA from “start”.Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I think SA and S9 go hand in hand?
@johann-fuehrer If you don’t need ascent/vertical analysis and summary you’ll be fine with SA. -
I have S9B also. Just use Suunto app, it works great. Still missing some features, but they are adding them regularly. If you want to data nerd connect SA to Runalyze and Quantified self and enjoy it. Use Relive for animated 3D videos of your adventures. Movescount is going away and SA is pretty capable replacement. It will be better in time.
EDIT:
.) some simple structured workouts
.) configure all settings for the watch which cannot be changed on it directly^ structured workouts are not available.
Not all settings are configurable from SA, but those that are used frequently are. -
I have exatcly the same setup than @Dušan-Ković and am happy with it

@TELE-HO I really hope you are right. Using a friends S9 during a weekend I was able to use SA more completely. I was disappointed with both the watch and SA. Had a black screen on my first move, took long time to get GPS position (compared to A3) and disliked the configuration in SA.
Basically it’s mostly the configuration I’m disappointed with in SA. But have not used the other features as much as in Movescount because SA is on small screen.
Hopefully many ambit configuration possibilities will be added to SA, but so far I have not been reassured.
