Difference between Running Performance Index and est. VO2
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos i will take a look on it. but having the watch for not more then around 24 hours, i will get comfortable with the new suunto system first. meanwhile i like it alot.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos i take it with a grain of salt too. listen to my body first, second the metrics. but i get a very good guidance from it. for example seeing early that i should change something on my training and it works for me.
also for long time reviewing. you really can see, what you did, how much it improves you. (in my head, i can’t remember, but here its a nice graph to see) -
How I understand my vo2 max.
I did a lab test to find my max vo2 max.
And I use the estimated vo 2 to compare my current running exercise.
-
I have a question (and I don´t know if it was already discussed here, I can´t find anything about it):
Why are not (in case of Ambit3) EPOC and VO2 data (which we see in Movescount) displayed in Suunto app? Thanks for reply or link, where this was discussed here.
-
@estevez why suunto 9 has no Vo2 date as well? because they don’t care
-
@zhang965 well, Suunto 9 doesn´t have Firstbeat license, but Ambit3 has…
-
@estevez yes of course I know, I just want you know it’s not a technical problem it’s an attitude problem, Suutno 3 has Vo2 tab in SA
-
@estevez i would say, they don’t have it “yet”. “i think” it is an app work in progress. and better add thinks step by step and clean, instead of trying to put all in at the same time, and having problems. (but thats only what i think).
-
@zhang965 if the suunto 9 is the type of watch for athletes (pros)
and for example the 3 is more for the average fittness type persons.
i think that an pro athlete who already do a VO2max text in a lap from time to time does not really care if the watch tell’s him an around 95% accurate estimation.
but a person who don’t spend hundreds to get such an test, get’s a good guidance if he is improving of not.
same as guidance for training plans, rest days and so on. -
@mario_b After one year I was looking for info’s about the VO2 in moovescount is still diplayed but Suunto App still didn’t have this functionality…

Hi!
I am new to Suunto. What is the difference between Running Performance Index and est. VO2max. (When looking on the run in Movescount, recorded with Ambit3 Peak).
Thanks very much for your help.
As my understanding Running Performance Index is the estimated VO2max calculated with Firstbeat algorithms. but what is est. VO2?This is an old thread but,
Running performance From ambit3 accounts for your vo2 max fitness AND running efficiency. You can do that easily and much more accurately now with stryd, lookup Running Efficiency formula.
Example two runners can have different vo2 max but finish race at same time, difference is running efficiency(mostly).
They use specific weight lifting trainings to your core and leg muscles to improve muscular oxygen absorption efficiency (leg) and running form(coremuscles), particularly hem strings for people genetically predisposed for such injuries (for those who have their genome sequenced, there is a specific gene that if you don’t have many copies of it you are prone to it)
vo2 max just aerobic fitness (you max input of oxygen) it is estimated from average value of many factors.
MC Est vo2 is (Was) estimation of your current oxygen intake. Sort of like IF but 100% is for for 12minutes instead an hour on TP.
