@TELE-HO
Or for 1974 born people
Looks like more a categorized released -
Nothing moved forward, beside other issues, Movescount does still not show āProgress an Metricsā from moves uploaded with my Ambit 2. Therefore, I phased out my 6 year old Ambit 2, and purchased a sport watch from an other manufacturer. To transfer all my Suunto moves to the software from my new smartwatch was easy, and I can see progress and metrics in apps and on a PC perfectly again. Iām very happy with my new sport watch, and wanted just to say good bye Suunto.
-
@SteiraMan Just out of curiosity: where did you move to?
-
@BernhardT I moved to Garmin, to a Fenix 5 Plus. Like it very much, data recorded at moves are similar to data from Suunto. I can still prepare routes on a PC, or on my smartphone. User interface on PC is great, and the Android App is great, both are more user friendly than Suuntos solutions.
I hope, quality of the Fenix 5+ and Garmins heart belt is the same than from my Ambit 2 and Suunto heart belt, because both work very well after 6 years in useā¦ -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Does that imply that the desktop tools for using my Suunto Spartan Trainer Wrist HR vanish in a few months? Will the apps be useable by desktop? (By the way, I did not find a way to use movescount on a linux desktop) I am not interested in acquiring a smartphone ā¦
-
@ThomasR unfortunately yes that is what the statement says however, please wait for the next one. There was tons of feedback about this here as you can see.
You will always receive and email about this subject as a Movescount user.
That said, I have run the app with VMware although I could not manage to get BT working.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Thanks for the info. Do you have tips for a cheap smartphone on which I can use the app for my watch? (I have no idea about smartphones. I am only interested in using the watch-support-softwares, not in anything else with smartphones)
-
@ThomasR
xiaomi redmi go -
any old (2 year max) samsung model to be (almost) sure about compatibility and usability

lol just as well you arenāt interested in anything else lol as nothg much works anywayā¦
As to phones well as long as it is android 5 and above it should work fineā¦ I use is on a redmi note 2 android 5.1 phone from time to time to see if there is a difference in features between that and my samsung 6 active android 7ā¦ And nope still the same shitty features(for ambit users) ā¦

Well I have ran it on a HTC desire S with android 5 and a HTC HD2 with android 5 and both ran it. . was a little slow but it workedā¦
If you want it to run well at least quadcore and 1gig ram is what I would recommend as ran very nicely on our spare redmi 2

Sure
I do some test on my old Galaxy S2 too (LineageOS)
It works, but I wouldnāt use it as an everyday āplatformā, but of course it would be ok as a sync device only. -

By the way: Does switching off the desktop support software not decrease the usefulness of the watches? E.g. Apps have to be compatible with the smartphones (e.g. I had read somewhere that for political reasons, Huawei switches off google apps), the SIM cards of smartphones may not work in the country which one is visiting, I can not imagine that creating routes is on smartphones as easy as on a desktop,ā¦ Because it happened elsewhere that decreasing customer-support etc. was an instrument of brand-deconstruction in cases where big companies got rid of competing brands after buying them, I wonderā¦
