How do I get my workout off my watch?
-
During yesterday’s ‘maintenance’ I did a workout, and now this morning the service is back working the auto sync with Strava, Training Peaks and Runalyze is not working. I need to get this workout on all three, for further analysis.
How can I export a workout from the Suunto App to my computer, so I can manually import into Strava, Training Peaks and Runalyze? I need a .fit or .tcx file to do this, and there doesn’t seem to be a way to do it.
I have a Suunto Spartan watch.
Failing that can Suunto Customer Support please email me my workout, thanks.

Hi @Annoyed the service status is that its currently processing the uploads. There is nothing needed from your side todo and I think it will eventually sync to where it should.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos thanks. So eventually it should work. There should be a way for us to get our data off, without relying on a third party, though. On Garmin’s you can just navigate the file structure over usb. With many apps and devices you ‘own your own data’, but not with Suunto apparently, where you have to rely on the web site working properly, before you can get the data off, and then only to certain ‘partners’. In these days of scrutiny over data ownership, surely it would be best to give us the option to save and backup our own data?

@Annoyed You bet! I am all in favor of what you say. In a small effort to tackle this problem my self, I created a json parser that you can drop the Suuntolink jsons and at least view them. http://quantified-self.io (if you are on the nerdy side you might be able to dig those json files on the suuntolink folder but they are compressed).
That said I do know that an export as fit comes via the app but USB pulling is not on the near future.

Which files are you referring to in the SuuntoLink folder? After uncompressing the JSON’s from a Spartan Trainer WHR, the files are NOT recognized on [http://quantified-self.io/](link url) Do you have a solution? Frankly, I would like access to my own files on the desktop without being chained to the SuuntoAPP and other Suunto web services. Thanks.

@Noi-Tra those should be the files. Could you link via drive a couple to check what is wrong on http://quantified-self.io ?

@Noi-Tra here is a tip. Sort by size and select the bigger ones. Those should have the samples to create a map and the charts.

@Annoyed ‘Eventually’ ‘should work’. Yeah, right. How come no-one sat down and planned this work, to cause the least possible disruption? 2 days and still nothing, nada. My data is trapped in a Suunto Hell Hole. My workout link is: https://app.suunto.com/move/martinkelsen/5cd289cb124992bd1bdc193a/

Do you know if it will work while being offline or will it be handled by backend and api (watch sync - activity transfer - request FIT from service)?
-
@margusl The near solution will require online services.
That is because the FIT production proprietary and its a resource eating task. That said I think Suunto goes for the easy one and then the hard one

I sent an email (link to JSON files on Google Drive) to your specified account within quantified-self.io, i.e. jimmykane. Thanks for your assistance.
