@cosmecosta
Suunto movescount.com (web service):
We have heard from many of you that the Movescount web service is an important part of your Suunto experience.the feature request here by @Saketo-Nemo https://forum.suunto.com/topic/1730/web-interface-for-suunto-app/ is the most voted one.
Yes, I know and this is the reason of my question.
“Suunto movescount.com (web service):
We have heard from many of you that the Movescount web service is an important part of your Suunto experience. We continue to review movescount.com and its most important and utilized functionalities. As we have more details on the next steps, we will share them, particularly for those connecting exclusively by cable to the web, like Ambit and Ambit 2.”This sounds a little ambiguous for me…
-
@cosmecosta wait for the May updates. They say they are reviewing what MC has and offers so they will come with a solution for A1/A3 and all us web guys
-
Great to see some sort of update.
My Ambit3 (also have a Spartan) sport connects to my PC and then updates MC via my cable, so i know the above statement mentions Ambit / Ambit 2 but should it not mention Ambit 3 as well?I use the Ambit 3 just for lunchtime sessions at work and my Spartan for everything else, but even so i still want the lunchtime sessions on my training plan.
it’s all very confusing… and i read the forum post’s everyday… any new user who has just bought a new 9, must think what the hell is going on!!!

Yup. Especially since the 9 is not advertised as MC compatible.

I think it should have but A3 can connected / get a full feature set from SA.
A1/A2 watch owners were displeased a LOT when Suunto said on the first announcement that MC would go away. I think they wanted to let know to these users that they are changing plans / working on a solution for them.

And that what A3 users are really waiting for. SA set really and fully working. Not that featureless basic compatibility that makes us cannot only put a simple gpx route into the watch.
Anyway, good to have finally some news. Hoping now that the really next news will be for A3 and SA …

I am also using a A3 I know the pain when I have to lend it to a non techie fiend and propose SA
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I think that when I bought my s9 it was MC compatible. June of 2018.
I wish they implement a good way to sync in MC from SA. After all I heard that suunto has a brand new open API -
Hoping Suunto does the right thing for A3 users. I am keeping my ear close to the ground on any significant moves making A3 fully compatible with The Suunto App. Researching options to move to in case my A3 remains non fully compatible with the Suunto app with Movescount gone. Suunto9 baro???

Finally feedback from suunto and a good news. Let’s hope suunto is able to continue to develop (or even only maintain) the web platform for cable users (e.g. Ambit 1/2 series at least)… but as well for all suunto users because using PC ismuch better and easy than a tiny phone screen
looking forward for next (good) news

@Yannis-Belouris nope. We actually released an update just after 1 week to SL and MC apps/web to support it.
There is nowhere in the S9 communicated any product promise for MC.
S9 is compatible with MC but its not in the promise or in any reference from Suunto.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Thanks for the update!Regarding the features of MC that should be conserved/replicated in SA web, is there any way in which we, the users, can provide feedback?
-
@jsuarez I think the time will come for that, and this forum should be the place to add this feedback.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Thanks!Additionally, before nuking the MC app, it would be sound to have the SA web frontend in production. The lack of that frontend with the much beloved MC features is the only thing preventing me to go full SA (i.e., sports mode customisation, routes, etc).
-
@jsuarez that is not in my hand but noted for the feedback I need to report.
That said though, I think you could still use the cable to sync to the web (and view it via a pc) and keep the SA for mobile only. I know it’s not the best but just saying
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos will have to check my original packaging. Because back then SA was only available in beta from and a very crude one that is.
-
@Yannis-Belouris I just realized I have no real packaging to double check.
-
The way I read this is that the forced transition to the new platform is accelerated and nothing new has really been promised. A3 owners or anyone else who want to continue using Movescount will lose ability to sync wirelessly with Movescount by end of 2019 if they lose or upgrade their phones and have to reinstall apps.
Meanwhile Garmin has released 945 with 36 hour battery life in best GPS mode. I can’t believe I say that but moving back to Garmin after almost 7 years now seems more likely.
-
@silentvoyager by 2020 fenix 6 will be out and will the s9 successor.
By then suunto will have introduced some features in FW and SA but what will give it the edge?
Galileo is playing catch up. Training/recovery/metrics is something delegated to 3rd parties.
At least with polar there is a roadmap of expected features.
Anyway, we wait and see what the future holds. -
@silentvoyager
Movescount App will not be available anymore in appstore, but installed one will still be usable.
So wireless sync still possible until further notice.
I read this like that -

I read this like thatYes, that’s why I added “if the phone is lost or upgraded”. My phone will actually be due for upgrade around that time.
