Inline skate - HR looks bizarre
-
If anyone else here do some skating, I’m curious to check if you noticed some changes in HR graphs.
Here below two HR graph for similar activities (same track) done in October and today.
I don’t know why but the HR started looking very jumpyThe only difference between the 2 activities is that these days I’m wearing long sleeves, but, I’m using long sleeves also when I do short runs and graphs looks very good (multisport nordic w + run).
Same issue with trekking mode.
No problem with weight lifting, run, walk, nordic walkI’m not excluding it’s due to some changes in my arm/wrist (I tighten the strap always to the tenth hole) .
… and no, I’m not wearing some gloves with magnets and anyway nothing different from the run move.

It was a famous investigation :), isn’t it ?
For your case, no idea except a watch issue (fw or hardware) Maybe some sportsmode aren’t dealing WHR the same manner as others.
Maybe we need more data to investigate : trying to reproduce the issue, do the same activity with same clothes, but with another sportmode, etc…
it could become a nice post to follow waiting for a new feature to test -

Indeed

That’s my suspicion. Maybe something has been changed in the last FW

Yep, the next time I’ll try a different sport mode. Maybe later I’ll do a short test.
Yesterday I used a custom “skating” mode instead of the standard one, that I usually used.it could become a nice post to follow waiting for a new feature to test

Winter + OHR update I bet are the reasons
EDIT: NOPE read better the thread.
I bet its the sport mode?

It’s one of the options.
The first time I’ve seen this issue was after a trekking up in the mountains. I thought it was due (and maybe it was) to the cold weather (minus something) long sleeves jacket and the use of trekking poles, but yesterday wasn’t cold at all, around 10/12°C … and I was not using polesThe multisport graph is from an activity done a couple of days before, and it was a bit colder than yesterday.
Maybe the wrist was shaking less I don’t know … Really strange. -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I experience also problems with HR measuring during the last bike rides. The HR measuring starts good and runs without problems for first 20km. Than the HR goes 70-80bpm down for next 13km and than comes up to normal again… I think this is a temperature problem. https://app.suunto.com/move/oli_ver/5c6926788bfe5d7ae767ab67/
But the problems from sartoric are bit different, it goes up and down the whole time directly from the beginning, the body should have normal temperature at start (normaly) and the measuring should work… Not shure if this is temperature reason!?

I’ve done some more tests today recording 2 different activities for my round trip.
1st one using Run profile and the 2nd one using Inline SkateRUN
SKATE
The darker graph is the speed one.
Based on the graph (thanks to quantified.self since SA sync kicked in and only 1 out of 2 moves was sent to MC) it seems that the profile doesn’t matter. If you are swinging the arms, HR goes nuts.
When I tried keeping the hand on the backpack belt, the HR was quite good (flattest sections in both graphs).
In fact the only difference, while I run, is that I keep the arm flexed and close to the bodyAnyway, it looks like the new FW it’s a bit more sensitive to arm swinging, as I didn’t changed (I suppose) my way of skating, but definitely not a problem with the sport profile.
Those spikes for speed in skate graph are probably due to the GPS set to Good and the water on the side of the road (gps track is a bit off) … 50km/h by inline skate on a “not so perfect road” is almost a suicide … and a dream
The final test should be to record an inline skate activity using the old fw … but I’m not sure I can downgrade the watch without any impact on integrity of existing data.
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos do you know ? -
@sartoric if downgrading i suspect that you might loose settings etc.
