Is MovesCount Web also being turned off?
-
Hi,
I am a bit confused - are you disabling just the existing MovesCount iOS/Android app, or also the Moves Count web site?
I don’t use either an iOS device or and Android device, so I rely on the MovesCount website for two things:
- Send activity from watch via MC Web to Strava
- Create Routes and custom settings/screens and sync them to the watch
Therefore I am also relying quite heavily on MovesLink for OS X.
Thanks for any clarification!
Simon

@sifriday all of them called ‘movescount’ either mobile app or the webfront end get’s wind down somewhere in 2020 according todays announcement, only replacement is the Suunto app for connectivity to your watch natively…
-
It is in this context that we will begin to wind down our previous service, Suunto Movescount, with a target of closing the service earliest in summer 2020.
… not Suunto MC website or Suunto MC app … Suunto MC full environment
Looks pretty clear to me , isn’t it ? -
Right! Thanks. That’s quite disappointing.
I had two Forerunners but then I bought an Ambit 3 Vertical for the barometer and nav features, much more affordable than Gamrin equivalents. I am enjoying using it … nice simple UI, great battery life, and doing the bulk of the fiddly configuration work online in a website then syncing it to the watch was a great experience, especially for the routes.
It’s a shame to be asked to do all this in an app and not have the option of a proper mouse/keyboard/screen. But fair enough, I guess more people use apps now, than the web, so I appreciate Suunto might not want to develop both the website and apps for their new watches. But why not park MovesCount till 2030 or something until all current users really have fallen by the wayside?

@sifriday
Configurating my Suunto Spartan Sport through the app works quite nice, of course still not all features there, but what is there really works great, and I think in the future Ambit 3 configuration will be as well. -
You’re right that the Ambit 3 is not totally shafted, because of its bluetooth support, so it will be able to connect to the new app.
Currently though configuration of the sports screens is not supported, according to this:
I’ve not found a roadmap that confirms it will eventually be supported? Do you have any info on this, would be great to see it?
As well as doing the config in Movescount, I currently create routes and sync them back to my watch. Do you know if that functionality will be supported in the App?
Again I’d argue that doing something like route planning works much better in a large screen environment.
Plus all this is a bit of a moot point anyway, because I don’t actually have an Android or iOS device… though getting an Android phone is one option, it might be cheaper than getting a new watch.
