@Luís-Pinto I am not in love with MC.
My biggest worry is that the eventual successor, be it app only or app+web, will be missing features.
It creates uncertainty. Maybe everything will be there, but most probably not.
Much like how spartans are still missing features like apps, structured intervals etc compared to Ambits. -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos It’s the same for me. I’m used to “train” on the same routes planned both in SA than Strava and use the Strava platform to compare my sectors to other user’s sectors, as a sort of test. I Think that I can improve myself watching only my achievements time after time, but I improve better if I also compare that results with other friends or atlethes on the same route
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I were using Strava Summit for 60 days (free option after syncing with SA), and I must say it’s not valid in the way I use it. And as far as I know how some real athletes and trainers I know they analyze their trainings, I could say it’s not useful for most of them.

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
Paid versions of Strava, TP, etc could be serious tools.
Paid being the important word here.
Non paid versions are very dumped down.
This situation makes us feel poorer.
The rich kids (F@rmin) get a proper sets of tools and we have to beg, steal or pay for the same thing. -
@ColdBeer @Yannis-Belouris haven’t we iterated over this discussion quite a lot? I have heard quite the same here. My intention for commenting was at least to understand why the non-provoked fight.
To debate if another service is useless to you , paid or not, I would not like todo that IN THIS THREAD.
Again if you do feel that you have a fight to win, as Spartan users, please give space to the people that have a bigger one, such as A2, and the non BT devices.
To my eyes the biggest problem here are these users mainly and I would love to get the feedback, not debate again about Strava features paid and TP.

Wish Sunnto would work on bugs etc. My Spartan Ultra Titanium keeps ‘‘locking up’’ I have to reset it. I thought it was only when connected to my laptop, but it isn’t. fed up with it now, and I’m not the only one who has this problem.
If Movescount goes, or when it goes. So will I!!! Are you there Suunto!!!
It’s my 3rd Suunto watch, but sadly it will be my last. Luckily, we have competition
If they made Movescount the best, people would move to Suunto. clearly moves do NOT count
I haven’t bothered looking at the compaction yet but what would you guys recommend? I need a web based programme, I have a smart phone but I don’t really like using it for sport.
I also use a Stryd and would like a power meter for my road bike.
Cheers S

A solution for older watches like Ambit2 without bluetooth connectivity is a must. No further arguments required, everything’s already mentioned.
Very bad decision! -
You are unnecessarily jumpy.
This is a fight. A fight to keep functionality on the same level as today both for all. Ambits 1,2,3 and the rest.
Everybody is losing something and I empathize with everyone’s pain regarding this digital plans. -
@Yannis-Belouris all thinking are welcome. Suunto can bring structured Very quickly if they want… Stryd team is limited and this week they bring structured for AW as beta!

The debate is here, and IMHO the Suunto communication is making EVERY Suunto user to lose something (full service, medium service, or something). It’s the worst way to say something to customers, mixing bad news for everyone. So please, if Suunto -as it seems- is trying to give spartan users no solution to workout analysis and say there are some others payment platforms to do so, don’t try shut up me just because I’m less hurt than others (something that I’m sure about).
-
@Yannis-Belouris let keep the discussion then focused on what we can do and to provide ideas or even bad sentiment / feedback. I understand now, about the provoked fight I asked about.
-
@ColdBeer again I am not trying to shut you up. But to be honest take a look further app, you have said this again in different words. I am just asking to give space to other subjects and users, You are well heard.
-
@GingerBeardMan I’m confused! Why could not I connect the A2 (USB-cable) to my BT-equppied laptop and connect (via BT) to my smartphone SA-app? In that way, at least, the older watches using the USB-cable could be used with the SA-app! I think that making the A1/A2 watches obsolete is horrendous! Amersport (which owns Sunnto is now being bought by a Chinese company, Anta 5.3 billon USD) maybe now has become a victim of political play?
-
Ambit, Ambit2, M-series, T-series and Quest Collection watches
These Suunto products will not be compatible with Suunto app due to no mobile connectivity (Bluetooth). Is it not possible to allow connectivity between older devices and the suunto app via Suunto link?
I still have to use Suunto link to upgrade my Suunto 9 so if it is still going to be part of the suunto ecosystem, why not use it as a gateway for older devices? -
Info from Suunto Support (09/2018):
“(…) we assure you that Ambit3 peak will be supported maybe longer than new Suunto watch models since these models are already proven to be reliable and has been one of the best selling watch models from Suunto, just like Suunto Core. There are no plans in changing apps and websites for Ambit family. If there will be significant changes, it could be switching from using Moveslink2 to Suuntolink (which is still being discussed not yet planned) which does not really have any significant effect on the watch.”So, I have ordered my 2nd Ambit3 Peak… And yesterday I received mail that Movescount will be substituted with mobile app - which will cause, that my Ambit 3 Peak watch will be significantly less functional watch. I need customization, sportsmodes, suunto user apps, route planning + uplod, POIs, etc. At the moment I am very dissapointed customer.
-
At the end, I hope, suunto will offer a solution for everyone.
For NO BT users, maybe a stand alone software that sync to sport tracker database (aka suuntoapp) and for ambit3 users suunto app will be implement actual function offered by MC.
I can bet on -
@estevez I got the self same email back last summer when I questioned the support of my Ambit

Pal, so as it’s clear what we’ll lose functionalities with the future death of MC, it’s clear enough, IMHO, that Ambit 1&2 users feel terribly angry. I don’t think suunto needs more comments from them about that point too.
I’ll neither express nor repeat again my arguments. But I really believe it’s clear enough.
Now it’s the moment for suunto decisions. Turn for suunto. I just wish no more bad news, imaginative and innovative solutions, and that the suunto users doesn’t lose more faith on this company. But clear, loud and detailed news.

couldn’t have write it better, like the bit of sarcasm in your line
I wasn’t really trying to be sarcastic, I just hope to make it point clear that
- all the bad consequences of the decision to scale down web services and effectively discontinue support for older watches were really expected and the possible damage was evaluated well in advance, and
- the only thing you can really do about it right now is vote with your money.
But I guess I just couldn’t hide my disappointment well enough…
-
@witchcraft & @estevez
It’s very recommended to safe that mail very well.
In a lawsuit you’ve a very good argument against Suunto.
