Hi all, I wonder if you could help me? I’m seeing some strange altitude readings from my S9 baro. I have the alti - baro setting on altimeter. I seeing some sudden drops or rises in altitude, see images attached. I have a couple of questions for you

      1. Could you explain what is happening?
      2. These training runs I did in Belgium and Holland where it is quite flat. I would like to experiment a little by changing the barometer setting from altimeter to barometer or automatic. Can I change this setting in either the watch or Suunto app? My watch doesn’t sync to movescount anymore.

Suunto S9 baro, software version 2.5.18
      Suunto app version 3.54.1.
      Phone Samsung A5

      Thanks in advance,

I guess you need to share the activities to check if is a reading error (watch) or post-processing issue (phone)

            Thanks Dimitrios
Strange how Suunto support don’t give me this answer, not yet anyway. If it’s a known bug do you know when it will be fixed? In the mean time can I change the alti-baro setting without using Movescount?

@Brent-Hoggan you don’t need to change the alti baro settings. That is not the cause of the issue and in theory, none will need to do that in the future (we are working on a better setting for alti/baro).

The case here is the following:

When you run, and the starting altitude is wrong, there is a fix done on that.
The app should bump up the chart due to this offset, but does not.

The ascent is calculated correctly both on watch and app but just the graph is funky (shows the correction) only on the app.

My suggestion is to wait for the fix. It does not affect anything but the App graph.

In case that bothers you atm , which is understandable, my advice would be to calibrate the altitude automatically from the watch , before you start a run . Then the watch wont have todo it while you are working out , thus this will have a good graph

Dimitrios, if you look at the 2 images attached the start altitude is correct. I adjust it either manually or automatically during the day on my watch when I notice that it’s not reading correctly.
Thanks for your help, it’s much appreciated. I look forward to seeing the fix in the next updates.

@Brent-Hoggan partially what you say is correct. The scale here is so small!

For example on pic 1 you start at ~18m and acter ~12minutes the fused alti kicks in and says that it should have been ~20m and bumps it up. That bump should be at the start of the move. Makes sense?

Anyways I would not worry as its under fix once and for all 🙂

Also bringing you some cool options on the watch (if all goes well) for this 😄
