Hi all! Since the last update it happens sometimes that when I reach my point of destination (by saved route or heading) the watch crashes. The activity is saved, though, but it concerns me. Not sure if it’s a bug for everyone or that there is something wrong with my device.

It happened three or two times this month. I’ll describe the cases:

1st case: 23th of july: I made a route, saved it and ran it. The final point of the route was in the descent to the campsite. I knew there was a path, but the map didn’t show and it wasn’t routable. I didn’t mind and made that point my last point. When I was down the descent and was about 100 m after that last point, I wanted to check if I could make an extra round around the campsite to finish the last kilometer. When I looked I saw my watch face. I couldn’t recall touching any button in that downhill. Even if I did I normally have to go through Recovery HR and Feeling and Summary. That didn’t show either. Conclusion was that it crashed. The used sport was running, but it was custom made. No Suunto Plus apps.

2nd case: maybe it occured again during mountainbiking the next day. It happened after I reached my destination. But I’m not entirely sure. I think I resetted my watch.

3rd case was last weekend. I was (electrical) cycling with my girlfriend in a unknown area. We didn’t have a route, but decided at each point what our next point is. I use the Heading function for this. After 3 or 5 points I reached the point and I look at my watch and see the Suunto logo. The watch restarted it self.

Does anyone see this problem as well? It’s 2 or 3 crashes in 21 activities. Not a big problem, but it’s annoying! I’d like to decide to run 5 km extra after my route if I want to. Also I’d like to have my whole activity saved as one.

@Horizontal_2 This happened once with me with a vertical 2. I was in a custom mode, based on Hiking. I was following a route. However, I joined the route half-way as I was camping in the hills the previous night, and deviated from the route quite a bit. When I reached the end, the watch restarted, but my activity was saved. I thought maybe it was because I deviated so much from the route, or maybe my walking pole straps pressed the button enough to reset. But it seemed too big a coincidence to happen at the destination.

@RichardM Yeah, it’s weird when this happens. Was it also after last update and also with the Vertical 2?

@Horizontal_2 you’ll find crashes are fairly common tbh. 3 crashes out of 21 activities is a big problem. Suunto is built on a reputation of reliability

@Horizontal_2 So you’re a lucky man. I’ve had mine since October as well, and ever since the previous update I’ve been experiencing restarts. Yesterday, after a restart, all my sport profile settings (data fields, etc.) were wiped.

If this isn’t fixed by the end of the year, I’m returning the watch and moving on. These exact kinds of issues are why I left Garmin and praised Suunto. Now it’s a disaster. At least Garmin had settings backup.
