My son turns 13 in a few months and I’m looking to get him a Run. I’d like to be in the same ecosystem, so I’m also considering a switch back to Suunto.

For my son, does the Run seem to be a good option if he trains for club soccer most days of the week, including a few training runs and bike rides with his friends? I know he can’t wear it during games, but he could input the duration and RPE in a manual activity.

Does anyone else have teenage kids with a Suunto? What works well and what does not?

He’s seen me with a watch for years and wants one of his own, and Suunto seems to be the most simple and scientific when it comes to presenting data. I do not want him to use a Garmin because it does all of the guess work for you. Plus, I prefer the TSS model and want him to learn the value of properly gauging RPE.

      Thank for the insight!

@tm3610 For manual activities he can just register at Suunto and use the app. Then he can try first how it all works
Plus with the Suunto HR Monitor it should be possible to sync the Heartrate during activity to the App. Should generate TSS hopefully - but didn’t try

Edit: Just tested it - at least with the Suunto Smart Sensor you get HR and HR based TSS. Could be a good combo to start

@VoiGAS thanks!! I’ll look into it. My hope is to get him thinking about training sessions using RPE first, and HR as secondary feedback. So this might be the way I go.
