No possibility to quit and resume the Trekking activity: so DISAPPOINTED
-
Hello all,
I bought a Suunto vertical 2 for my treks.
I’m a doing around 2 or 3 trek a year of several days each.
I was so happy when I bought this watch : I’ll be able to record my trek as one trace and use all the functions while trekking.
And now after my first trek in the Alpes I’m so disappointed and angry : it is not possible to leave the activity. So if you want one trace, and so if you keep the activity running your whole trip, you will NOT be able to access other functionalities of your expensive watch …
So many times during my trek I wanted to leave the activity. For instance to check the weather. Or the set a timer for my food when cooking. Or just to access the mountains wallpaper (vertical Week for example ). All of these were just not accessible.
Why I’m angry ? Because I paid my watch 600 euros, the 250 euros Coros watch of my friend can do this, same for the old garmin of my brother ….
At least we can access the light of the watch through the configuration menu of the activity.
Anyone feeling the same ? Suunto if you are reading me, please, I love your watch, your app. But this is a serious flaws. I mean come on, we are on a adventure watch here. It makes no sense.
Thanks for reading me.

@nico1234 hmmmmm i never missed this function! You could stop the Activity then you have all like watchface and / or Countdown Timer!

@GiPFELKiND yes but I don’t want to stop the activity: I need one single trace…
-
@GiPFELKiND the point is I don’t want to stop the activity, to keep one trace

@nico1234 it was never a function of the watch, it has been asked so many times, guess you should have checked before buying. if not, merge gpx with any tool.
In the last survey I also asked for it, but not a life changer. -
This is a working feature on the Run, though it wasn’t a feature at launch but has since been implemented. Works perfect.

@nico1234 Sounds like you need a Garmin. Sorry, but you should have done a little homework before purchasing. I think Garmin is the only brand that gives you everything you have on your list.
Seems like a lot of emotion for 2 or 3 treks a year. That is about what I do as well and there are still over 300 days of use a year that I love my Suunto for, but to each their own.

Yes garmin has this function, but the last garmin I had also had 3 or 4 annoying bugs in the “resume for later”. It alerted every 5 minutes an activity is to be resumed, alerts suddenly beeped, although I had beeps only for sportmode and I sometimes got of course alerts, indicating that the gps was stil on and rendering the resume for later useless.
I don’t think a lot of people used that function because there were only 2 people complaining on the garmin forum (including me). And of course this was 1 and a halve year ago, so bugs could be solved (or garmin added some more)
