Suunto Software update Q2 (2.56.18) - July 14th, 2026 - Vertical 2 and Race 2

@thailon its 2 developers (that do work for embedded, Android and iOS) and 1 Project manager + one freelancer that does the release notes.
Today I had todo the release notes because he did not manage in time (he know days ago).Maybe now you trust suunto more, that its clear how things work.

So the situation is even worse than I had assumed. In that case, let me put a serious question to you: if Suunto cannot allocate the resources to support and improve its own products, why not open the code to the community? Let people who actually care about quality and features help Suunto grow, since Suunto itself apparently cannot.

Custom running pace zones still do not persist after a restart with firmware 2.56.18. After rebooting the watch, the configured pace zones are reset to the default values.
Still reproducible on Vertical 2 / Race 2.

@thailon Haha, he was clearly joking in response to your numbers of developers comment. I wouldn’t expect them to tell you how they run their organisation…
-
Two Devs for Android App, Apple App, Cloud Services, Suunto Run FW, Watches FW and Dive products FW?
Wow, that sounds like a super efficient team! Hopefully nobody gets ill or something… -

I hope so, assume so. But the situation looks more or less supporting the number 2.
I was not joking about community include. -

I also didn’t understand that it was meant as a joke.

@thailon i understand some parts from you! BUT V1 is until today the best watch suunto had in this Programm. I dont need street names in the map. And also the V1 had all i need!!!
+1 And… HR Recovery…

@VoiGAS When someone gets ill we postpone the development. Thats why we release quarterly updates
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I thought Claude handles everything while you just hang out and drink recovery drinks and electrolytes 🥳
-
@safari same here, let me know if you find the solution…

I’ve done the update. In the exercise options > target section, there’s not just target, there’s also duration and distance. There’s no incline option. Am I missing a setting?
@peegee
Which sport mode have you tried this in?
It does not work for open water swimming. While it does well for running. -
Guys, thank you for the update! I will appreciate the much higher route limit. It seems also like there have been improvements on the server side wrt routes shared from external sources, as well as download and deletion of routes from the watch. All this seems to have been working better these last few weeks.
I know a lot of people have asked for the labels on the map. I’m interested to see how this works - do we need to download new maps, or is all this info already included in the existing maps?
-
@Egika
I have a sports mode I created called “Walking > Walking in the City”.
I’ve added images.
The language is Turkish.

“English is not my first language. I use Google Translate sometimes, so apologies for any translation mistakes.”
-
@Egika both on custom running and trail running

why not open the code to the community? Let people who actually care about quality and features help Suunto grow, since Suunto itself apparently cannot.
And you would rely on random people who would probably code this in their spare time more than on two (I assume) full time devs at Suunto? I wouldn’t. Especially not during races, etc. The scenario would be what? One dev == one field tester?
-
Great update! But seriously, Suunto… not even one new watch face for us?

The necessary data already is in the maps on your watch.

I hope for an update for S Run in the short time, but judging this there are no real meat on the table for me.
The update is not bad, but underperforming.
Still waiting for:
- proper bluetooth connections
– higher limit on max bluetooth devices
– fix multiple sensors on same standardised UUID - suunto HR monitor drop out fix
- proper bluetooth connections

Yes, I do rely on random people at least for my Linux system. Actually, it works and get updates almost daily.

@brechtvb Suunto Run is on a different schedule
