Suunto Software update Q2 (2.56.18) - July 14th, 2026 - Vertical 2 and Race 2
-
@mich-heller I had the same “issue” but did not force a reboot, just waited until the watch rebooted on its own and the update process continued.
-
@isazi Just waiting on V2, green progress bar in loop too
. -
@HonzaS don’t get scared
It was one of the longest update processes I experienced, but it worked eventually. -
In mobile phone changelog, there is “Improved ascent and descent calculations” too. I always got big difference in elevation compared to Wahoo.
-
I’ve done the update. In the exercise options > target section, there’s not just target, there’s also duration and distance. There’s no incline option. Am I missing a setting?

-
Update completed… it took about 23minutes… really crazy… but now let’s see what’s new

-
So, to summarize: all six (or less, do not know, how many of them are really available) of your developers are dedicating Q2 exclusively to V2 and R2. That makes the situation perfectly clear for those of us on V1 & R1— there will never be a Qx release for it. It is equally clear to Suunto’s customers that products still actively sold on the market are, in practice, unsupported.
I have been a loyal Suunto customer since the T3c era. I regret to say that loyalty has now come to an end. Suunto has definitively lost my trust, and I will be making my future purchasing decisions accordingly.

@thailon i understand some parts from you! BUT V1 is until today the best watch suunto had in this Programm. I dont need street names in the map. And also the V1 had all i need!!!
-
Does this update fix the issue where the S+ shuts down during an activity when three apps are running at the same time?
-
Update went well, took a bit longer. The tide widget won’t load, says Updating data, won’t load anything.
-
@OutdoorMan the widget takes time to download data, mine is working right now. Assuming you live somewhat close to the sea, if you don’t it does not update.
-
@isazi I see and I don’t : )
-
-
@jjorgemoura the location is kinda the same (although the data comes from a different source) of what you have for the weather. Does you location have tides? It could be the sea, or a large body of water. If not, no tides.
-
@thailon its 2 developers (that do work for embedded, Android and iOS) and 1 Project manager + one freelancer that does the release notes.
Today I had todo the release notes because he did not manage in time (he know days ago).Maybe now you trust suunto more, that its clear how things work.

-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos you again forgot about me!
-
Wow wow wow. Map layer management. Best function for me. Thx for the developers.
I only need a base map, contours and buildings. -

I have never said V1 is wrong or bad. V1 is great watch. But buggy, with no firmware support to fix them. No need for new (potentially unstable) features, just fix well known issues, that’s it

So the situation is even worse than I had assumed. In that case, let me put a serious question to you: if Suunto cannot allocate the resources to support and improve its own products, why not open the code to the community? Let people who actually care about quality and features help Suunto grow, since Suunto itself apparently cannot.

Custom running pace zones still do not persist after a restart with firmware 2.56.18. After rebooting the watch, the configured pace zones are reset to the default values.
Still reproducible on Vertical 2 / Race 2.
