Let me add this topic, as it is high on my wishlist.

Since many of us are outdoor enthusiasts, I would really appreciate more detailed weather information directly on the V2. A weather/rain radar widget synchronized through the Suunto App and fed by reliable services such as Windy, Storm Radar, or similar providers would be a fantastic addition.

I understand that this would only work when the watch can retrieve fresh data through a connected phone and internet access, so it would not be available on off-grid trails. However, whenever connectivity is available, having radar-based precipitation data and short-term weather forecasts directly on the watch would be extremely valuable for planning activities and making decisions in changing weather conditions.

      What about this?

I had this feature on numerous Garmin Tactix watches, but personally never used it. As you metion, you need a connected phone. As such, I always found it much more practicable to you the speed and screen real estate of the phone, rather than the watch…
        Just my experience…

@Tommy85 I have recently tested the Windy data field on my Garmin Edge and indeed it is quite nice to have during a ride.
I know this data field is also available for garmin watches.

Would be nice that Windy launch a suunto+ app as well.

I had rain radar on my previous watch, a garmin forerunner 965 and like many things on a garmin, it didn’t work very well. It could be the poor garmin implementation or the clumsy small screen for this kind of data but in real life I just grabbed my phone to look into things in more detail (whether it be weather or maps. Finding a route on a watch is also a suboptimal experience)

more interested to hear what radar app you’re using on your smartphone (too small screen imho on a watch).
I was very pleased with weather pro for years but latelly it’s getting wraped…

                @Tieutieu
I mainly use dutch ones. There are a couple of commercial apps (with add), like buienradar and buienalarm (buien is dutch for rain shower) and shortly the dutch public weather service (knmi) also shows rain radar, with a predeiction for the next hour. I have the feeling the knmi’s prediction are somewhat better. Most commercial apps are quite simplistic, If there is rain at point a and the wind is in the direction towards b then, over one hour, it will rain in b. This may be the case with a rainfront, but not with rain showers.

I also use windfinder a lot. It is focussed on wind related sports, but gives access to 2 different weather models and 1 is quite fine grained (at the expense of giving expectations for only 3 days).

And at the end, I do what everybody does: Just pick the app with the weather forecast that is most favourable;)

for me it is way easier to look at such weather data directly on a smartphone, and I would avoid to load the map rendering on the watch with too many “features”.

@tieutieu in Italy, 3BMeteo app works usually very well, don’t know if it is accurate in other countries too.

@Tommy85 I’m working on something similar, an S+ app showing most available weather data the Suunto platform provides at the moment, meaning current weather + 7 hours in the future.

I have a POC but need to work on design some more because there’s plenty of data and it’s hard to visualise it all on the small screen.

I’m also thinking about incorporating a kind of moving widget that will react to users heading (fused compass and GPS) in order to show headwind and tailwind.

So it’s plenty if data 🙂
