Maps Update Rollout, March 2026, Staged

@Stavrogin All US is done, you need an app update that will likely come soon. I was able to test the updates and I am quite impressed with them. I hope other users will be as well.

I was able to update my US maps by deleting and re-adding them. However, they do not look too great on my V1. Contour lines are completely gone on all map styles at all zoom levels. And there is some strange behavior in the amount of detail shown when zooming out. Some tiles load more details than others. You can see in the image below that at the 5 km zoom level, the upper left tile still shows all of the available street data, while the other quadrants show almost nothing. Zooming in and out changes the amount of detail, but not consistently across all tiles. This is after a soft reset to clear any old cached map data. Maybe the upcoming watch software update will correct this??

On a bright note, two and a half years of my OSM contributions are now shown!

@duffman19 does it reproduce if you reset watch again and open map? Can you share the location with me?
-
@pavel.samokha I’ve reset the watch 2 or 3 times and it is the same. It looks to be an issue with areas that have been micro-mapped in OSM (every house, sidewalk, driveway, tree, etc.) as if it’s information overload for the watch. I’ll PM you my location.

My software version is 3.8.1. Türkiye is listed, but no update has arrived. I guess I need to wait for the next version.

I think this updates going to take a bit of patience. Roll out doesn’t seem to be immediate everywhere. Suunto makes us all more patient

I was a bit confused during one of my activities.
Seems that some details that were visible on the watch previously are not visible anymore. For example this oval “track”. It is not available on the watch, but it’s visible in the iOS app. Shouldn’t it be the same?

@pavel.samokha Czech Republic
is also available for update -
@OutdoorMan location?

-
@Squirrel it seems like in watch we doesn’t properly handle running tracks I will note that
-
@pavel.samokha That’s what I thought when I briefly looked at OSM. The oval is leisure=track which is correct tagging for a running track. It is important to render them in the maps including watch map. Thanks for reporting it.
Another thing is peaks. I don’t have a new upcoming firmware, (still on 2.50.26) but new maps have no peaks. It would be helpful to have a point indicating a peak. Either with an elevation, like in routeplanner.suunto.com, or just a small triangle. Unless map data is rendered differently in upcoming Q1 firmware that will address that, among other things.
