Cycling Power Estimator

Are you using accelero or imu for the implementation?
I’m computing acceleration from the speed delta between ticks, with some steady-state suppression to reduce noise.
Technically the IMU looks like a better solution, but expensive in terms of resources.I’ll probably do 2-3 more rounds of testing and try a first release.

Following an unfortunate and brutal encounter with the tarmac, field testing is paused for a couple of weeks until I repair my bike.
I’ve removed any wind logic for now, simplified the code and used fewer arbitrary gates to filter out sensor noise. Sometimes the mitigations cause unwanted side-effects and only field-testing will detect these.
One big change I haven’t field tested yet is to pedalling downhill - when speed exceeds terminal velocity then some power must be added by the rider pedalling; calculate and display this.

@mickywickyftw looks great, I’ll try it out
I agree, forget about wind for the first version. -
After some bike repairs and the assorted body repairs, I’ve been able to test it some more.
Submitted for publication today.
I look forward to being able to use it daily without disconnecting my watch from the Suunto app each time! -
@mickywickyftw Hello excellent idea your application can’t wait to test but it is not yet available on suunto plus?
-
@ggrego It is today. Haven’t tested it from the store yet, but you can download it now.
-
I notice that the colour gauge works in the simulator, and used to work on-device, but right now does not display at all on-device. I have only seen this with store builds, so will debug this when is not displayed at the moment, so will debug this when I get the chance.

Fixed - it should all display correctly now.
You can use this thread for issues or ideas. Happy riding! -
Thank you so much for this wonderful S-plus app. I tried it today on my weekly riding. Everything was excellent except for the cadence indicator; it didn’t show the RPM on my Suunto Race watch (latest update). It just showed a (–) symbol, but it was functioning perfectly.

Hi. I tried your app today and the same thing happened to me twice (in two sessions) with the cadence. I even re-entered the circumference in mm of my MTB wheel, which is what I used for the rides. It’s a good app for estimating power without a power meter installed, and good for measuring load.
Thank you for your work
