Race S: Extremely high battery use rate
-
24 hours ago I charged my Race S to 100%. I had 3 runs with the total duration of about 4 hours with external HR. The battery is now at 66%. This doesn’t seem normal at all. By the way, last night it was at 80%, and after that I had only a short 20 minute run. The first two runs were with external HR, the last run with WHR.
4 hours of running should account for 13.3% of battery use. That means the battery discharged over 20% in the remaining 20 hours.

@sky-runner I have a similar « high » consumption on mine since last update. Soft reset didn’t solved. I wait for next update to see if it changes
-
@sky-runner similarly here on the vertical https://forum.suunto.com/post/186853

@Tieutieu I really wish this is fixed soon! I don’t experience this issue all time but it comes and goes. I do suspect it is related to the use of the external HR sensor.
By the way, in another 7 hours the battery level has dropped from 66% to 50%.
Also, what nobody mentions is that this reduces the longevity of the battery. The battery has only so many charge-discharge cycles before it starts to lose capacity, perhaps about 300. So this isn’t just an inconvenience.

@sky-runner same problem. After sleep from 100% to 80%. Any fix?
-
@sky-runner Same. I had it charged to 98% this morning. Just completed a 55 minute run, with external HRM and Stryd. Battery is now 91%.
-
@sky-runner ditto!
-
24 hours later, 77%. I’m monitoring HR 24/7, but display is off and awakes on raise.
-
@sky-runner I am having the same problem, battery is draining ridiculously fast. Battery last 2-3 days instead of a 1-2 weeks with my usual activities. Race 2 with 2.50.28.
-
Tried a factory reset and now it’s even more noticeable…

-
I can just confirm that there is higher battery consumption on my wife’s Race S. It’s a reoccurring problem. In one update it seems to be fixed, then again introduced in next one.
-
48 hours in, and it’s at 50%. I did an 80 minute run yesterday. Today is a rest day for me, so perhaps it won’t drop 20% or more in the next 24 hours.
-
To be noticed : battery consumption is more high with new vector watch face. I turned back to Hike watchface I was using before.
-
@Tieutieu I think you’re right about that. I didn’t notice significant battery drain until switching to the Vector face. Switching back to the Race Flow to see how things change. It would be interesting to test the battery drain between charges with the different faces and see how they compare.
