Recently my Vertical 2 started randomly dropping external bluetooth sensor connections during exercise. After a certain trigger event the watch stops recording data for all external BT sensors. In my case it is HR (Suunto Smart Belt) and power (various powermeters - Sram/Quarq and Campagnolo).

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a pattern. I have disabled autopause, as in the beginnign this seemed to trigger it, but to no success, it still happens. I have tried using custom and built-in sports modes, still happens. The drop can occur few minutes after starting the exercise or few hours later, seemingly random. Soft reset does not help.

As far as I can tell the sensors actually remain connected but no data is processed/recorded by the watch. And with the Suunto Smart HR Belt it even notifies you when you stop the exercise that it is Synchronising HR data, but it doesn’t.

If I start recording a new exercise all the previously dropped sensors normaly reconnect … until sooner or later the connection crashes again.

I have tried sending logs to Suunto after saving the exercise (with dropped BT connection) but the App, iOS, 3.8.0 (21526) constantly fails sending logs - multiple attempts after different exercises - they all fail.

@Freezer This has happened to me a few times in cold weather. Polar H10 and Suunto Smart Belt. But then it reconnects after a few minutes.

@maszop, hi! I also see dropped connections every now and then that reconnect and they are per sensor but in the cases described above the sensors do not reconnect even after extended time and they all drop.

What’s absolutely infuriating is that when the Vertical is mounted on the handlebars and my heart rate is being measured with a chest strap, and I move 10 meters away from my bike or kick scooter, the Bluetooth connection drops and isn’t re-established. So, when I’m taking photos, I just have to move a bit further away from the watch. 😩
