From thread: software update 2.50.26 altitude issues
-
@Dimitrios Kanellopoulos - you’d asked to put issues with the altitude estimated through the route planner in another thread. I’m not sure of a good place to put this. So here it is.
Note: the original route was created in Strava, not the routeplanner, or in SA. The link to the GPX is pasted below, and was imported into the routeplanner, which shows there is 282 m of climbing, and 288m of descent. When run, the route had 748m of climbing and descent. This was also confirmed on my running partners watch, with about the same number - that watch was a Fenix 7. SA shows yet another number (also much lower than reality for climbing and descent).

@DrSilverthorn When I import the above route in Strava I get 1997 ft of elevation gain which is 609 meters. Strava estimated elevation gain tends to be a bit lower than actual so the 748m actual ascent seems right to me.
In my experience SA and route planner ascent numbers are grossly inaccurate. For example, today I imported a route made from a previous run. In SA it shows as 1765 ft of ascent, but in reality close to 2600 ft.

@DrSilverthorn well I mean in regards to the wathc
