Hello I think it’s two models were released too quickly because of the utmb and that in 6 months it will have completely changed remember two models the v1 has these beginnings and what has become today race 2 and vertical 2 will surely evolve and receive several novelties otherwise what’s the point of having put such a powerful processor in it you just have to be patient

Probably the biggest disappointment is that it’s not mip

About this particular point, I was suprised to see how much time and effort is put by Joaquin in his video here to justify/convince us about the change from MIP to AMOLED (more than half of the video?). In fact, after the watching it, I clearly felt, more than before, that AMOLED was not for me!
They even featured the new Nomad as an example of the “MIP to beat” 😂

Just crossed my mind… if v2 came without the HR sensor and instead a bigger battery & even slightly thinner than v1, then would look like an upgrade to me, at least on paper. Thinner and more juice than v1!

Just a thought. Probably the biggest disappointment is that it’s not mip, and I’m pretty sure that if version 2 had had a different fate with the display, things would probably have turned out differently. When things work out, we almost always regret the past, but in my opinion this could be a “dangerous” bias if we look to the future…

A V2 with MIP, LED flashlight and the new OHR would have (in my opinion) been a BIG win for Sunto (and for us).

@ggrego Someone made this decision – probably for some reason, and it’s very possible it was a mistake, judging by some people’s reactions.

Perhaps a better option would have been to release Vertical 2 with a new update in Q4 2025 – then it would have been something new and different from Race 2.
This was the case with the Race 1 release – it introduced a lot of new features (e.g., HRV, etc.), which then made their way to Vertical and 9PP.

@maszop I don’t think the general public has the real elements that pushed for that decision… probably market surveys, supply chain constraints… we can just guess. What I know is that I’m in the market for a replacement for my 9PP and the new vertical doesn’t cut it, the Nomad seems to check more points for me (only if it wasn’t that ugly 😂 ).

@Luis-Andés-Olmedo I have AOD and can see the time whenever I want. I have found the battery consumption to be fine with this setting.

@Luis-Andés-Olmedo hard to say as I have only had the watch a week. I normally do around 10 to 15 hours gps a week.

I got the V2 on Tuesday and charged it up, 6 hours GPS so far. It is at 50% battery but that includes downloading UK maps and a lot of playing.

I have just took the V1 out my my bedside table, that is loosing about 1% a day.

Comparing both watches I totally get why people would return the V2. The V1 is a brilliant watch. The only advantage of the V2 I see are.

Easier to read , the screens usable space is bigger, font is clearer and colourful.
                      Charger. Secure and works well
                      Torch is great
I have ti V2 and steel V1. V2 feels much lighter (obviously)

As an everyday watch I much prefer the V2’s screen

                      The V1 advantage
Longer battery life in every day usage
Screen is much easier to read on bike

I think logically the V1 is the better outdoor watch… But I’m keeping the V2, the readability of the screen is great - I’m 59 and my eyesight isn’t what it was!

Should add I do not have sleep tracking on or 24h heart rate. Notification are on. Vibration only. Both watches are on low for light levels.

The difference in the screen is the main reason I’m keeping the V2. Just noticed the watches are a few seconds difference in time!

@Audaxjoe thanks!!! it is true that an AMOLED display is better than a MIP display but… it is also true that V1 MIP display is awesome and way better than any other watch out there (Garmin, Coros…).

I’m quite happy with my Race 2 (the screen and OHR), but every time I want to check the time and the AMOLED screen decides not to activate because I haven’t raised my wrist clearly enough, it annoys me a lot and makes me reconsider my decision to have an AMOLED.

@Luis-Andés-Olmedo I have the screen of the V2 on the AOD setting. On that setting you can always see the time.

It would annoy me also if I had to raise my wrist to see the time. Especially at work 😂

@Audaxjoe my problem with the AOD is that if that reduces the battery from 17 days (that has been my last charging cycle with the Race 2: no 24/7 HR, no notifications, no sleep tracking, 4-5 hours GPS per week) to 10-12… then the technology is not improving my user experience 😛
