A question for those with the Vertical 2: many reviews say you have to use the screen to go back because there isn’t a dedicated back button like on the Race 2. But from what I’ve found online, if you long-press the middle button you can go back. When using gloves, I expect to rely only on the buttons. Can anyone confirm that the long press works like that? And how long do you have to hold it? Is it quick or annoying compared to the Race 2? Thanks!

When will Suunto add the “Vertical 2” section to support, to at least have a record of updates and their contents?
My Vertical 2 has fw: 2.46.12 but what updates and fixes does it contain?
        On the support site:
Vertical 1 shows 2.44.52 with release notes
        Race 2 has no information
Race 1 is nowhere to be found…

No idea where you are looking, but Race 1 is here:
        https://www.suunto.com/Support/sports-watches-support/suunto-race/
        https://www.suunto.com/Support/Software-updates/Release-notes/suunto-race-software-updates/

Race 2 and Vertical 2 have not received any updates, they are still on the FW they were released with (that means, the “in box” firmware is different from the one Race 2 and Vertical 2 are running on after taking them to use. This is because serial production starts before the software is finalzed.
What the watches update to when switching them on for the first time is the real “initial” software.

Hope my explanation is not too confusing…

Yes, long middle button is the dedicated back button.
You need to hold it for 1s.
If you are deep in menus, pressing and holding the middle button will go step by step all the way back.

When I connected the Vertical 2 to the Suunto app, a firmware update was downloaded.
I don’t know Suunto’s release policies - typically, the sports watches I use are released with stable software.
I wanted to know what was fixed in the update compared to the preloaded software, since there seems to be a bug in the wrist HR sensor (it turns off without reason).

@Manuel-Extreme The update fixes the OHR problem of turning off when exercising. This should show up in the update information on the Suunto app.

@gogapo back button works well. I came from V1 so can’t comment compared to Race. I guess the long press is about a second. It becomes second nature after a few goes.

Yes, this is the process I tried to explain.
Between the manufacturing FW and the one loaded when first taking the watch into use, are usually more than one version. There is no changelog for all those versions, as noone is supposed to operate the watch with the manufactured FW. Both should be stable though, just many features are not fully ready when mechanical production starts.

Thanks for the replies, but actually the firmware is still quite unstable, at least on my watch, despite the update.

the HR sensor randomly turns off and to turn it back on I have to lift the sensor from my wrist and place it back on my skin. This happens several times a day.
when I activate button lock, after about 15 minutes I can’t deactivate it anymore and I have to restart the watch
The Always On Display setting gets randomly disabled even with full battery.

I’m eagerly awaiting a bugfix update.
I use the watch a lot for testing, monitoring SpO2, HR, sleep, doing 3-4 training sessions a day, changing sport modes to check the data, etc.
I don’t know if these bugs only happen to me because of the intensive use I make of the sportwatch, but they shouldn’t happen anyway…

First, which firmware are you on? Second, the HR sensor should not be turning off. Do you have 24/7HR monitoring turned on? The button lock issue should have been fixed as well as the HR, which is why I asked about firmware version. AOD should not be going off.
