Suunto Ocean SW update 2.40.56 (2025 Q3)

Just tried the new outback adventure and it is also bugged

Hi everyone!
I asked about this through chat support. Apparently, they are aware of the watch face issues. The fix is in progress. If it goes the same way as with the Race 2 watch face, then we’ll be waiting for quite a while.I also asked about the multi-sensor issue. Here the conversation got messy, with some vague talk and misunderstandings. Maybe it was just my weak English. What I gathered from the conversation was that the newer models’ developed features will not all be available on the Ocean. When I asked what about the Race model—which is older and cheaper, yet still supports these features—the answer was that the Ocean is a diver’s watch, so the functions are not the same.
So, it seems to me that the situation is concerning. Even internally, they don’t seem to fully agree on what exactly this watch is supposed to be. Meanwhile, the advertising and marketing present it as a multisport watch for those who practice different sports alongside diving, with no compromises.
As far as I know, the hardware should be capable of supporting these functions—since the Race can do it. So now what? Should I buy another watch, like the Race 2? What should I do with this one? Sell it, even though some of its watch faces don’t even display correctly? And what guarantees that the same thing won’t happen with the Race 2 a year from now, when there’s another trending model?
I really do love this brand, but this… I can only hope I just got unlucky with a less informed support agent—or maybe my English really was too weak.
I hope a moderator is reading this, and that we’ll get proper internal feedback on these issues. It’s clear what we want: every feature that’s available in the cheaper models should be available here as well. If something can evolve there, then there must be a solution for improvement here too.
On the other hand, the development of diving features is also important for those who actually dive. I don’t want to go into the reasons why I chose this watch back then and not another model. According to marketing, we’re supposed to get the same capabilities as with the Race. To me, “no compromises” means exactly that—no compromises. Everything else is just empty talk.
I’d even say that I’d like to try diving and start learning it, but for now, it doesn’t seem like this watch will inspire me to do so. Of course, I don’t expect it to. This is more of a sharp critique towards my favorite brand.
So, I really hope we’ll get feedback—on the multi-sensor issue, the diving features, the watch face bug problem, etc. Suunto promised no compromises, so I’m not asking for more than that.
I am sorry for hard critic…I do not want hurt anybody, or I don’t want to be impolite. I am only requesting the service for which Suunto previously quoted a price.

@ISztárek not all features of other models will be available on the Ocean as far as I know, but it should be minor features missing (such as the ruler in the map) and not big ticket items
-
@ISztárek about multi sensor support, I tested it on my field-testing Ocean, so it works. I don’t know when Suunto will release the new firmware for this watch, but the sensor support should be there.
-
I just updated the Suunto app from iTunes. Unfortunately, the sync. problem still persists. In fact, I even have the impression that it has gotten worse. My connection issues concern only and exclusively my Suunto watch – all my other Bluetooth devices work flawlessly. On top of that, further uncertainties such as disappearing logbook entries, sensor issues, watch faces, incorrect starting depth when diving, the frequency of updates, and several other aspects reflect a much broader range of problems.
I’m really sorry to say this, but I have to voice my criticism very clearly: the problems with Suunto are becoming severe, and the communication is downright poor.
I kindly ask all testers, moderators, and employees present here to get in touch with Suunto and point out the mood and frustration within the community. I would also like to emphasize that this post is in no way directed personally at anyone in this forum. However, statements such as “as far as I know,” “someone with official contacts once said…,” or “it was communicated somewhere, though not officially” carry no weight for me anymore.

@tinten.addi Sorry, I did not read down to see what the sync problem is. I am traveling and do not have the Ocean with me but I have not experienced any sync problems with this watch on your firmware.
What is the sync problems you have and which iPhone model + firmware? -
Concerning the Sync issues.
I had none with the ocean before the software update. Everything synced correctly. I did two dives 20th september this year with the new software installed and the first dive did not sync. After reinstalling the app on my android phone, it finally synced. Restarting the watch did not help.
The second dive synced without issues.
I will be on vacation diving tomorrow and will test if the problems persist and report accordingly.
Also, why is there no timer for diving in this update included? It would be so helpful for instructors. -
Hi,
I’d like to ask whether, during the multi-sensor test, you’ve come across the display of sensor battery status. I happen to know people who use both Race and Race2 models, and these functions work there. There used to be a similar feature with the Ambit 3 Peak as well — if I remember correctly, the earlier version of the current app also showed this. So I don’t think it would be too much to expect this function to appear on the Ocean as well. It’s actually a very useful feature — it’s good to know in advance if, for example, the heart rate sensor’s battery is running low, rather than discovering it right before or during a workout.
Furthermore, I’d like to ask you, as a moderator, whether there’s any way to start a more direct, earlier communication with Suunto. I’ve always believed in finding solutions — listing problems or repeating negative opinions doesn’t help much. I think many would agree that sharing a roadmap and holding a discussion about feature priorities with user involvement would be valuable. I know there have been efforts in this direction, but they don’t seem to be very successful so far.
I also understand that “silly” or technically uninformed demands shouldn’t drive development. However, as we can see here on the forum, there are plenty of logical requests, constructive suggestions, and valid criticisms worth considering.
So my question is: could we initiate something like the following through this forum?
• Official sharing of a roadmap, outlining general directions — not necessarily with fixed dates, but with a rough timeline.
• Feedback on key user requests, such as dive function improvements, dive screen customization, multisport features like sensor status (which I’ve personally been advocating for), as well as watch face bugs, widget fixes, modernization, and further development.
• Regular status updates on the progress of features and improvements. For instance, I really appreciated your post mentioning that you were testing functions users have been waiting for.It would be great to have all this not only through forum discussions and ad-hoc Q&A threads, but in an official, transparent, and publicly accessible format.
I believe users have a lot of ideas — and some of them could genuinely be useful. How do you see it? Would there be a way to make room for such an initiative?

@ISztárek did you have the chance to identify another communication path ?
It’s been a month that we received our last update on the Ocean but we don’t have any news about a patch to fix the issues we have.
Also I am curious about if we have some feedbacks from Suunto about the improvement or functionalities request we post on this forum. Does they actually create a roadmap of implementation with all those datas ? -
Hi Philippe, Hi Everyone,
So far, no one has responded to my suggestion on the forum. I haven’t received a reply by email either, although given the lack of response on the forum, I didn’t really expect anyone to contact me personally.
At the same time, I also reported a few issues through the chat support regarding the Race2 watch face. I haven’t received a reply to that yet, so I followed up today. I reported the problem again.
I also mentioned the Vertical2 watch face issue, which is quite buggy.
In addition, I pointed out the interval training tracking problems during workouts, as well as an app issue and the need for a multisensor battery status feature.
These are, of course, not related to diving, but they can affect everyone — especially the watch face problems. I think everyone appreciates having a variety of options when it comes to appearance. So, there hasn’t been any meaningful response or solution yet, but the chat support team does reply — they record the reports and forward them to the developers. I’m not sure why things seem to get stuck after that. One can only make assumptions, but personally, I’d rather not do that.
That’s as far as I’ve managed to get for now.

I got an e-mail today morning from an agent, who rechecked my feedback ticket. There is no soulution yet, but their team workong on it.
As a usual answere, but better than nothing.
