Battery drain after update 2.44.46 (2025 Q3) on Vertical Watch
-
Has anyone noticed the phenomenon of battery drain beyond normal on the watch after a software update, even though no changes were made to any settings?
-
Yes myself and others have noticed around 10% a day it seems sometimes more. I have tried everything expect a hard reset .
-
I can’t confirm. My Vertical is using around 2-3% a day but I don’t have 24/7 HR and sleep enabled
-
Hi everyone! I think I’ve started charging my watch more often too…
-
I’ve been testing this for a week.
I’ve finally finished it.
The results are as follows.- These results are my personal comments based on my personal use.
Watch: Suunto Vertical Titanium Solar
Fw: 2:44:46
App: iOS 3.2.0 Beta
The watch hasn’t been removed from my wrist for 24 hours.
No exercise has been done. (daily use)Daily use: Activated usage during testing:
- 24/7 wrist-based HR tracking
- Wake-up reminder
- Constantly connected to phone (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi)
- Notifications (I receive a lot of notifications, email, SMS, etc.)
- Manual sync at least 5 times a day
- Media controls
- Pedometer
- Blood oxygen monitoring
- Sleep tracking
- Automatic altitude adjustment 3 times a day (connects to GPS)
- Wake-up alarm every morning
- Wrist-based alerts on
- Sound notifications on
- Race 2 watch interface
According to this table, I found my daily battery consumption average to be 9.3% between 8:00 AM and 8:00 AM the next day.
Sunlight also plays a role here, but it doesn’t exceed 0.3% at most.
I also tested under the sun, so I’ll briefly mention that. I left the watch charging in the midday sun, and it charges at most.
If the battery is over 94%, it reaches 100% in an hour with sunlight, but if the battery is less than 94%, it doesn’t increase even 1% in an hour. Furthermore, after a while, the watch goes to sleep, decreasing its consumption. As a result, some features need to be updated automatically through the app,
more Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections,
more watch interface complications,
and the fact that my watch is 1.5 years old,
I think this increases battery consumption.
You can factor in the FW update.Regards.

@safari Thank you very much for the in-depth analysis.
what do you say @Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos & @isazi -
@Danny-poleg i have the same feeling but i have Race
-
@Danny-poleg I have a Race (and also Race S), but also noticed higher battery drain. Even after a few charging cycles.
-
@Danny-poleg charged my watch on Sunday to 100%, it is right now showing 86% with all enable, 1:10 of outdoor activity, 1:00 of indoor activity. So, nothing changed much for me.
-
I have been recording every day when I wake up for the last two Charge cycles what % battery I have first thing in the morning. I have just charged watch from 0-100 yesterday and now recording daily loss. I have never changed any settings on my watch since new. I used to go through 2-3% battery a day. Now it is between 7-12% I will continue to record every morning this current charge cycle after doing the 0-100 and see how it goes. The only thing I have left to try after this is hard reset.
-
My Vertical behaves as always, around 1% per day when not exercizing, with notifications off and hr off.

This is normal.

I’ve noticed increased drain on Race. I charged it on Saturday evening and now it is on 23%. I had about 10h of activity with it. One hour indoor without gps, and everything else is with gps, mostly trail runs and 3h climbing session. For trail runs I have race nutrition and zonesense S+ active. About 16% per day. All on, except AOD and SPO2 sensor. I have a feeling that battery lasted more with previous FW
-
I waited to update the vertical as soon as I read about the battery drain, I only updated the race S (without problems)

This is normal.
Nah mate for the first year it went through 2-3% a day
-
Also think 2 to 3 percent is normal without actives on Vertical. I have noticed no difference since update with battery drain. I find GPS about 2% per hour.
For me 10% a day would require a 3 or 4 hours of GPS!
-
@gone-troppo sorry replied wrongly, I meant 2-3% is normal.

@safari Hello I just read your summary my vertical has the same behavior just a question about the automatic adjustment of the altitude is an option that must be started or is it automatic? Thanks
-
@ggrego Hello,
Since altitude is barometric, I use “automatic altitude change” before starting each exercise. It does this via GPS.
This way, it provides more accurate altitude information. At least it’s consistent with the “altimeter” app I use on my phone.bu arada “FusedAlti” de çok işe yarıyor
from the document:
Altimeter
Suunto Vertical uses barometric pressure to measure altitude. To get accurate readings, you need to define an altitude reference point. This can be your current elevation if you know the exact value. Alternatively, you can use FusedAlti (see FusedAlti) to set your reference point automatically.
Set your reference point from the settings under Alti & baro.

@safari Ok thank you for the information
