OHR accuracy of owners of Race 2

@Tomas5 hey Tom, did you try to shave little section at your wrist the place where your watch fits best ? Without hair perhaps you will got much better values? Only a little section without hairs? Give it a try!

@GiPFELKiND was thinking about that but never tried

@Tomas5
Hi, so my experience is that this is the most accurate suunto sensor, i have tried.
in sports mode, there is (in my case) a pretty consistent pattern, the first 4-5 minutes are not that accurate, it has a hard time recognizing the first minutes HR increase.
But withing 5 minutes, its kinda “locked on” and the very very good. No crazy pikes, or even worse from my previous wathces, no 10 minute lows, in a high intense workout.Sportsmode used this first week has been.
Ebike commute: approx 10 times. 1 of thoose readings were bad for 6 minutes, otherwise on target
Weight training; 3 times: a little slow to capture the first increase, but from minute 4 on target
Crossfit: 6 times; very high intense, and all interval is recognized from the HR graph, on the second. still a few minutes before it kinda hit the correc zone.I would compare this as being the secong best OHR ive tried, in front of Epix 2 pro, and just behind Amazfit T-rex3

@Tomas5 I’ve been shaving since the day watches with optical heart rate monitors came out.
And in serious training for a competition - always a heart rate strap for accuracy -
@Tomas5 I have been testing this watch for some time. It is the only Suunto that gives me good OHR during running and similar to my Apple Watch Ultra. I am very happy with it and have the titanium version that is quite light. I can show a lot of data if you wish.

Than you all for replies

May I ask which strap you are using with the SR2? The original silicone strap, or maybe the textile strap from Suunto Run?
Anyway I assume it needs to be fitted tight?
-
@Stoke80 I have used both the silicone and textile run strap. I prefer the run textile strap as I can adjust the strap better.
-
@Brad_Olwin Is the textile strip also flexible like the original one?
-
@VoiGAS
Flexible, yes. Stretchy, not that much -
@Brad_Olwin do you have some “suunto” textile strap or 3rd party?
-
@Tomas5 I am using the straps sold with the Suunto Run that can be purchased separately.
-
Thank you.
I agree with the adustability of the textile strap. But personally I think the silicone strap gives me the feeling the watch is more „stable“ on the wirst, as the strap is sturdier than the textile. Just my 2 Cents

@Tomas5 I have had issues with my race 2 HR accuracy when doing movements like the skierg, rowing, wallballs, etc. I think my issue is the strap that comes with the race 2. I wore my wife’s Garmin side by side during a workout to compare and the Garmin picked up my hr perfectly while my race 2 was very inaccurate. It just wouldn’t pickup my HR sometimes at all while the Garmin had no problems. I even had my wife wear the Garmin and race 2 side by side. I think the band on the race2 is the culprit because it’s so stretchy it’s hard to get the proper fit. The band is very comfortable but the stretchiness isn’t great for HR accuracy. During runs the HR accuracy is perfect.

I will get back later after few weeks so people with same problem have some answers. At least for me it looks with Race 2 better than with S5. Not sure if it is accurate but at least no spikes with 200bpm while normal walk etc.
Walk looked good HR usually between 100-120 which is correct for me.
On bike it looks good too. I think there was rise of HR while riding down bumpy road while i think my real HR was lower but other than that it was correct. So for now good but this is only after two excercises. Will let you know later. -
Are there signs of cadence lock during downhills? Thats the only situation where the Race S OHR really fails for me
-
@VoiGAS i don’t run, i will see while hiking
