Map download without charger not working

As far as I understand, the last update 2.44.46 should allow map downloading without being connected to charger.
I’m on holiday and had to download a map. Tried without charger but nothing happened.
Updated Race was fully charged and was connected to hotels WiFi.
Tried multiple time with no success
Only when the phone was on charger did the map download.
Has anybody had this experience?Been with a Suunto on my wrist since Ambit2
Currently alternating between Race titanium & Vertical titanium solar.
Would love a Vertical with amoled display. -

@peegee Yes I had right after update (Suunto RS). However… I tried again just now and despite app still say charger is needed, the watch asked me to confirm and started downloading.

Did you try a watch restart ?
