Question about heart rate monitor
-
hi, I need some advice. my chest strap broke, I currently have a polar H9. I have a new battery in it. but I don’t know if there is a fault in the chest strap or if the chest strap is simply disconnecting from my watch. today I went for a 2km warm up then a 6km tempo run and then about 2.5km cool down. my heart rate was measured incorrectly on the first kilometer, around 90 beats, which is unrealistic. the subsequent tempo run my heart rate was around 170-175 beats according to my feeling, but when I looked at the watch it was so bad 3.4.5 km is total bullshit. in the app when you look at the laps the heart rate is so totally unrealistic, what surprised me is that in Strava my heart rate is good. Zonesense also didn’t measure anything. I’m sending you screenshots from both the suunto app and the diet. I don’t know where the error could be. I suspect that the watch is disconnecting the heart monitor! Thank you for your advice

@Miroslava ZS not measuring anything suggests a very unstable R-R stream. If you see a wide cloud of points for the R-R data (I use runalyze to check that) you can try to clean your strap. If it is an old strap, maybe it reached its end of file.

Sales in Suunto Smart HR in SP…

@suzzlo thank you, I saw that there are promotions, but in the future, if Polar is not repaired, I am considering buying a Coros HRM for my wrist, also for comfort
-
@isazi thanks for the observation but the polar h9 is new both the sensor and the belt, so that’s why I don’t understand it, but I gave it to a friend to take a look at because it’s very strange behavior. that’s why I wrote here that where could be the problem. so far my old h10 has worked beautifully for me and so has zonesense. I also want to ask does zonesense still only work with a chest belt? I read somewhere that it should also work with optical sensors
-
@Miroslava just keep in mind that Zonesense doesn’t work with Coros HRM.
-
@timecode Well, I just wanted to know if zonesense only works with a heart rate monitor, because I read somewhere that zonesense already works with optical measurement.
-
@Miroslava As far as I know, ZoneSense does not work with optical heart rate sensors.
-
@Miroslava you need an ECG basted HRM for ZoneSense to work. Optical won’t do it…

I have noticed that using a chest strap, the average heart rate per lap is always lower than the real average that is displayed on Strava. This doesn’t happen using the watch’s optical heart rate sensor.
ZoneSense works fine for these activities…I believe that this is a bug that has been present for several years. I reported it many months ago through Suunto App and am disappointed that it still has not been fixed.
Another member once mentioned that maybe the cause is that the lowest heart rate per lap is logged as zero in Suunto App.
