Detected on last update, my two SSTs have an issue with battery indication. You could check on every moment: if it shows you got 70% battery and you connect it to be charged, that percentage changes immediately to any other number (40%), so if your watch shows 40% and you think you have enough battery for a short workout, you could be wrong and your watch will die during the workout because it was really on 15-20%. So definitely, SST -at least- shows a random battery state while not charging, and itâs just updated when you connect it to a power source.
So this forces users to have undesired battery drops, and to make charges when it could be not necessary, stressing the battery and reducing its life.
Iâm starting to see battery life is shortening by the time, and in any moment this could be untenable, so I wish Suunto take note of this and:
1- Solve this through firmware upgrades ASAP (but after more than 6 months this pretends to be a dream)
2- Suunto extends the battery warranty for SSTs as far as we -users- canât take the required cares to our watchesâ batteries. -
@ColdBeer why donât you write to them to get a replacement if you think that the battery is degraded âŚ

Because itâs a firmware issue and while itâs not solved via software, I will damage the new battery again.

@ColdBeer I have seen similar things with the Spartan Trainer. Not an issue yet, but the % changes quite a bit the second you connect it to a charger. Normally of course I have no clue of the battery level and charge it when I have the opportunity.

@ColdBeer
Had the same issue. It seems like just a bug in calculating numbers. For me it was like that:- Have 40%
- connect to charger
- It drops to 27%
- Disconnect
- Reboot
- Still 40%
And after that the watch lasted around the time I expect for 40%.
Here is response from Suunto support:
Dear Andriy Zaretskyy,
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. We apologize that you are having issues with the battery.
1.Please kindly update the software by connecting Suuntolink, we believe that by updating your watch to the newest version (Spartan series watch: 2.0.42), all features and capabilities of the device is calibrated and is working to its full potential.
2.Reboot the watch: please press the upper right button for 15 seconds then release to check if it works.
If the issue persists, you may try the steps below to see if they work:
1.In Suuntolink, go to the options menu, select âWatchesâ and click âReset all settingsâ .
2.In Movescount website, select your watch from âMy watchesâ and click âRestore default valuesâ button.Hope this helps. Contact us anytime if you have other questions or concern.
Have a nice day. -
Thanks, @Andriy-Zarteskyy , but not of those steps solves the issue at all. It still remains there. The only difference is that mine (my TWO watches, both SST) has the same issue no matter what you do. In my case, if I connect at 40% and watch changes battery to 12% (this really happends), it does not come back to 40% even after reboot the watch.
I know this is not my issue, and Iâm pretty sure itâs a SST general issue with this firmware, but I donât see a solution and months passâŚ
