Android - route planning with heatmap
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos i guess no timelines…right?
-
@Andriy-Zarteskyy were would the fun be if we had timelines.
Jokes aside its agile development. We don’t want to make commitments so no timeline.
Roadmap is another story though
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos any hope to get this mysterious road map?
-
I agree with this wish list 100%. The heatmap is invaluable for locating routes, while simultaneously determining the popularity of a route. The really great part is that the route data was shared in a crowdsourced and anonymous manner for seeing how popular a route was, but then if 1 person shared that particular trail as a route then you could take and copy/import their route for use on the watch. The current system leaves much to be desired in utility. I am keeping my fingers crossed like many others.

Hi isn’t this fixed now with the mapbox version and the heatmaps?

Maybe it’s a matter of version (beta/normal)
-
@sartoric we just rolled out the latest beta to production (yesterday)
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos
oh, nice
So I can tell to my friend he can connect ambit -
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos - yeah, I’m on normal release, not beta. That said, the new update hit today and the heatmaps are there, and looking great. Very stoked for this update!

Regarding planning route with SA based on heatmaps.
As of today it’s possible to see my own heatmaps while I am creating my route on SA with iOS. Therefore I am able to discover new path.This feature is missing on Android as far as I know. I guess it’s not complicated to push this request from iOS to Android.
I hope this feature will be available on SA android in the future
Edit:
I noticed that I already opened a topic on this.

@Wilson75 yes you can see the heatmap on Android, go to the map screen on the app, click map icon at top then scroll down and you can choose which activity the heatmap is visible for.
-
-
@inkognito yes I am talking about “my track”. It’s possible only on iOS and not on android.
-
@Wilson75 I am on Android (14) and Suunto Beta 4.81.2 and have my tracks. It can be found by scrolling to the right of heat maps and you can choose the view (week, month, year)

I think that the problem is that when you start to create a new route then the My Tracks option disappear. The My Tracks view is only available when browsing the map.
-
@Mads-Hintz-Madsen ah yes, that it does! I see what is being asked and yes in route planning mine does disappear.

Some improvements are being done on SuuntoApp Map section. I really hope Suunto team saw this request and implement it for Android user. The feature is already implemented on iOS since a very long time and will be useful.
