Routes and Trainning Plans
-
Hi,
Now that Strava is on beta and soon in Prod, I ask about routes import/export/edit/users routes … and Trainnig Plans .
Anything have news abou these topics?
I use my SA with iOS but when I need to edit something I use an android mobile that can edit names , add kilometers… and I have some routes in MC that I like to move at SA.
Thanks Suunto for the new SA !!!
-
Route import is the only thing that’s keeping me to MovesCount. After it’s implemented I’ll be a full SA user.
-
Route import! !!!
-
How would you like the route import / export to be? GPX files in mobile?
-
@Jouko-from-Suunto I also have this opinion, route import will be the next major step for SA to be completely independent.
GPX file would be nice.
For example, once we click in the (+) button to create a new route, the option to Import / Create shows in a pop-up :). -
@Jouko-from-Suunto On iOS, GPX-import needs to be done via share menu, e.g. you download a gpx track from safari and save it in files (icloud folder), then share gpx-file with Suunto App.
Route export should not only be a route but also FIT-files of activities. The share menu should open and you have several oportunities to work with the file. -
@Jouko-from-Suunto
And maybe an option that when you made an activitiy to save it to routes as a new route.
-
@Jouko-from-Suunto there should also be a option to upload the gpx from Dropbox, google drive, OneDrive. On android to. I think that you also can upload downloaded gpxfiles from android file menu.
-
On Garmin on Android the solution is not direct to find but after the first use it’s pretty straightforward and nice: you just avoir to “open” the gpx and select the Garmin App as opening application and it’s directly imported in the route planner.
I think this solution is really convenient.
Another solution would be to have an “import GPX” in the menu of the route planner, but then how to have an UI that prevent people to open again another GPX and accidentally erase the route already party planned?

@Jouko-from-Suunto
Yes, like Wahoo ELEMNT app
-
@peringmar no not this option
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Do you really want to upload all of your activities via Icloud? I don’t even use icoud even though my main phone is an iPhone.
-
@peringmar in order to get the Gpx files from all the cloud services you mentioned the app needs a flow for each one of them and store tokens , get file lists folders etc.
If I understand you correctly.
You could just download them and open them via the app no?
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yea on android, but how do you do it on iOS? Your right, it would be much easier to do it as you said.
-
@peringmar no iOS user here. So noooo clue
-
+milion for this. Once this happens, I’m switching fully to SA. For start, maybe just let user upload GPX (or whatever file) to SA from phone storage. It would be great for the beginning.

I am an iOS user and it is simple to open GPX in apps, no problem using iOS file manager.

No one said anything about Training Plans or Planned Moves…how far away are we looking on these? I know they were not the highest priority.

Hi ,
In my case for example Movescount Web Routes is one of the best interface to planning me route , at today if SA give a solution to import and export of gpx. Is a good point because for example I use Movescount web for create gpx and import with SA, and only need wait for suunto when finish all the future features and migration of movecount to SA , trainnig plans , functions that you have in routes movescount, “movies” ,…
I think that if Suunto solve Import/export solution and training plans , Suunto developers have more time to finish de SA app and the users will moving to SA very quickly.
Is only my opinion, I suppose that each user her own priorities.
And finally i will like congratulate at suunto team about the new SA .
