Syncing with Strava/getting data off watch or Suunto App on phone
-
Hi,
Just started using the Suunto 9 and installed Suuntolink on my laptop and My Suunto app on my phone as instructed in manual and online. Watch and phone synced and I have 2 activities on there now. However these do not link with Movescount and therefore won’t link to my Strava account (that I have been using to record my run data for a long time). I normally use the Strava app on my phone to record runs but these 2 particular activities failed on my phone so I need them from the watch or app.I can see from other posts that to get the syncing working with Movescount I need to reset my watch but this would lose the data I need. Is there a way of getting the raw data off the watch, or from the app on my phone, in a similar way that you can from a Garmin product?
Sorry if this has been discussed in other posts but I’ve had limited time to search as I’m currently running around Ireland and am on the road!
Thanks for any advice in advance

Hi, I have just noticed something similar and applied for help some minutes ago
https://forum.suunto.com/topic/1256/suddenly-suuntolink-with-mcweb-stop-workingSome questions:
- Your Suuntolink connection with MC hasn’t worked never or is started failling now?
- Is Suuntolink reporting and error or just all things are “up to dat”?

Hi,
- Connection to MC has never worked
- No errors repored just says up to date. No reference to MC in Suuntolink and not many options.
This is a brand new watch and install of the software (did it a just over a week ago) so figure I’m using latest software and firmware

OK, found a roundabout way to get the GPX data from the watch. I didn’t know what Sports Tracker was or that once synced to the Suunto App I could access the data there. So I have logged into that and exported the data that I need. I’ve also linked it to my MC account so that there will be an automatic link to Strava (eventually!) via Sports Tracker via MC!
The Suunto 9 watch is absolutely amazing but I have to say my experience with the associated Suunto software is dreadful. I really don’t know if I’m meant to be using MC, SA, Suuntolink, Sports Tracker or what to log my runs. I really want to buy into the Suunto experience, and move away from doing anything in Strava (except for allowing my data to automatically upload to it) but feel that I may lose data in the process.
With the runs I am doing and plan to be doing I need a reliable way to record data so hope that things will become more straightforward and stable
I will now reset everything as per the instructions I’ve seen on the forum and hopefully start again.
Thanks

@Nikki
Connection between Movescount and SportTracker is one way only (MC->ST) -
Hi,
Sharif here (Nikki’s partner as she is running 50km between Arklow and Bray in Ireland!).
Using ST worked for but now I can’t get some activities to appear in ST! I sync the watch to the app (which I have uninstalled and re-installed a couple of times), it says it’s syncing the activities and completes but when I look on the app the run data isn’t there, except for one more run, but the number of steps and calories is for all the other days. I haven’t changed any watch settings so I don’t understand why I have 3 runs showing but the others won’t show!
Any ideas wold be welcome as i’m desperate for her to use the watch exclusively and not have to use another device to record the GPS data but I don’t trust that I can get the data off the watch.
Thanks

@Nikki Are the activities in the Suunto app list?
