Matte screen protector

Hi everyone!

I know, I know. Strange to put a screen protector on sapphire glass but I wanted to test a matte screen protector just to see how well it can mitigate glare. It works pretty well. The only downside is that the pixel quality is a tad bit worse but the trade-off by mitigating glare is good enough for me to keep it on. Used it for approximately two weeks now and I’m satisfied.

The only thing I would love for this watch to have is red night mode as I’ve suggested here and that would look so good outdoor in the dark: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/12237/red-night-mode?_=1737607584075

The screen protector was purchased from Amazon and is named apgo matte hybrid nanoglass. It’s like a flexible plastic glass and not tempered glass. It doesn’t feel “cheap” though. It feels like ticking and sliding your finger on paper.

@Arju-Ambin Definitely not worth it in my opinion. I have never scratched the Race and only scratched my test Vertical by skiing headfirst into a rock pile that destroyed a helmet and put a small scratch on the sapphire.

@Arju-Ambin like @Brad_Olwin I don’t understand screen protectors. After thousands of km and hours of activities all my watches screens are perfect. SR has a superb screen, adding a protection turns it less clear, when looking at your pictures. Unjustified fear IMHO.
About glare, I use either the SV and the SRs. Both MIPS and AMOLED have very effective screen. I don’t suffer about glare on the SRs.

You’re correct and I do agree. I didn’t put it on for protection. The matte screen protector was just to see how it’s anti glare feature worked. Maybe not worth the tradeoffs for some, and some might think it’s ok.

Not here to convince anyone, just posted my experience in case anyone else were in the same thoughts. As I said it was more to test the anti glare but yeah the quality decreased and the anti glare increased.

all depends on the kind of activity, if you do rock climbing, alpinism, canyoning… it’s pretty sure you’ll scratch your watch one day or another…
Likely not many people here had a close “relationship” with a granite wall

This. I’ve seen so many post on Samsung Galaxy watches and Garmin watches that has sapphire glass where people got a scratch or two asking how it’s possible. Sapphire do scratch too. Once it’s happened there’s nothing that can be done. Then again it’s less likely than other types of glass used on tech but still if the Mohs hardness is equivalent or greater than sapphire then it will scratch. You’re correct there too, high impact activities might give you a run for your money . But then again each to their own and everyone is entitled to their own opinion . I’m not too concerned and my use case was more to test the anti glare ability.
