Is my watch failing?
-
Quick collection of recent issues:
- 11/12/24 The watch froze mid run displaying with half black screen and half screen stuck at 16’ (but with 20’ recording), then rebooted itself. Contacted Suunto and sent log, it was pointless: the guy was not even able to understand what I was telling him.
- Sleep tracking has been all over the places after the update to 2.39.20.
- 01/01/25 Lost HR. Software reboot fixed the issue.
- 12/01/25 Lost HR. Software reboot fixed the issue.
As seen in other topics for sleep tracking, I try to revert back to 2.37.48 to see if, at least, the latter are a result of a very bugged software or is indeed an hardware failure.

@enneo Cannot speak directly to Race but Race S has no issues.
-
@enneo I’ve had no issues.
-
Thanks both, you seem to imply that it’s time for my Race to go for a little trip to Finland (or China)?
-
@enneo I’m having similar issues with HR and sleep tracking on my Race. Next time it will happen I will probably go back to previous firmware.

I’ve had HR issues with my Race S before I downgraded.

Not sure about the heart rate, but sleep tracking is definitely broken with latest update in Race. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. First time it failed, I restarted my watch and it worked OK for few days. But next time restart did not help. Last two days it did not detect sleep. Actually it detected just a few hours during first night as a nap and after that nothing. I’ve sent my logs using the suunto app…

@Prenj can confirm what @Brad_Olwin stated - no problems with the Race S here
-
Hello, same for me. Sleep tracking has the same behavior since the last update. I hope Suunto will do a bug fix in an update which I hope come soon.
-
@Chris_Dx should come soon, as far as I know

@Brad_Olwin well my Race S definitely had problems with hr-tracking with the December update. After downgrade it started working again.

My Race started failing at tracking HR and sleep after the SW update as well. Switching off and on the watch seems to fix the issue for a couple of days, but it comes back. I tried a factory reset with same results. My wife got a new Race S for Christmas and it updated the SW right out of the box, same issues with sleep and HR tracking.

@Meneillos i found today the first time my OHR stopps in my Race s. Before i had a touringski Session with heart rate belt. After finishing the OHR didnt work on watch! AND the heart rate values in the heart rate widget from the Activity is for the whole time i trained with the belt EMPTY. what stupid thing!? Why are the heart rate values not in the widget too!? Seems like No measurement…
Oh my goodness

Sleep tracking and HR issues here as well. Sleep tracking is completely off for me since the last update and HR stopped working yesterday. After a soft reset it worked again. And the battery drain seems to get worse and worse with every update. I’m now on 50 percent of the runtime in daily usage than before the switch to customizable complications. I still love my watch and have hopes in a bug fix, but I’m getting more and more disappointed. By the way, I run on my second unit. Had to return the first one with another problem.

Just want to add that I might have found a sort of pattern for Sleep Tracking problems on my Race. In my case sleep tracking fails (no sleep registered) only after I’ve recorded an activity (mostly running, with HR belt and some S+ apps). Then, after soft reset everything works perfectly until the next activity is registered.

Hello, I found a solution to return to normal regarding sleep tracking. My watch had the heart rate measurement that stopped during one night (for no reason) and therefore the sleep tracking did not work. I stopped/started the watch, the heart rate measurement resumed, but the sleep tracking still did not work. This lasted 3 days. Afterwards, I stopped/started the watch again then stopped/started the sleep tracking and on the start phase, I adjusted the related functions (sleep target duration, do not disturb duration, blood oxygen tracking on and HRV tracking on). Since then, sleep tracking has been working pretty well again. To be continued if this lasts over time. It remains to be understood why the Cardio measurement stopped during one night, which has happened twice since the last update.
