I am still hesitating to buy a Suunto Race or Race S.
I like them looks but doubt the content vs Garmin.
      Who can convince me?

@GVW18380 if you want and believe in a lot of „scores“ that tell you how good your endurance, your sleep, your hill abilities or your total readiness your water intake etc. are, go for the Garmin and hope that it will work and judge your training and workout accordingly. For me that didn’t work and not only because sleep tracking was not working, but also it took away the „joy“ of working out and feel connected to my body and the nature around me. The „medium“ (the numbers and scores of the watch and the app) became the main important thing and not the training/workout itself. It felt not good!

With Suunto there is a „choice“. You can have a lot of metrics but you won’t need to. You can turn off 24/7 HR measurement and sleep and use it as a pure sportswatch, concentrating on your training, feeling your body and how it reacts and works and still get a ton of data to improve your workouts, like Zonesense, which I really appreciate. And you can track HRV, Recovery and sleep but it won’t judge you and tell you you feel crap and should not train, if in reality you feel good.

Besides that: You can get a Race S for 300€ atm which I don’t know any actual Garmin watch with similar features can compete with.

@ChrisA and just one more thing (feeling like Columbo 😀) - I consider the Suunto app MUCH better than Garmin‘s app. If I want to see how many km I ran, walked, spent time at the Gym in the last week, month, year (or any given time), grouped by day, week or months - no problem:

As graphic or as a table - there are many options and I am pretty sure you can’t do it in Garmin‘s app or even their website (at least last time I used it)

Great answer. I would only add: your research - if it shows that the watch does want you want!

It’s none of our business to convince anyone of anything. Buy whatever device you think suits you best. If you don’t like it, return it during the return window.
Best of luck with your choice 🤞

@Highlands I totally agree. Who are we to convince you to buy something so personal. If you are serious about your training, this is your training partner/coach.
