Maps on the app
-
Hello,
I recently purchase a 9 peak pro.
I know there are no downloadable maps on the watch
(I would appreciate for it to change though. The screen isn’t that small, but maybe there isn’t enough memory on the watch…)The thing is, I did not find the option to download the maps onto the Suunto apps, so I can create routes on my phone even when I am somewhere with no signal.
Is it possible ? (If not, It would be a useful addition)
Thanks for the help,
Robin -
@Robin-Heron it is not possible to create routes without an internet connection.
-
@isazi Thanks for the answer ! Hope that will be possible in the future

@Robin123 you can work around by putting the route via Kamoot where it can be downloaded for off line use. Then you can download the GPX and upload to SA and transfer to the watch.

and if you link your Komoot account to Suunto App, then the routes made in Komoot will sync into your watch automatically No need to transfer files

@Egika Not with “no signal” because its not synced locally but over the cloud as far as I know.
-
@VoiGAS right. But to plan a route using Komoot you need an internet connection as well…
There is no offline route planning atm
-
@Egika You are right, just tried it. So the workaround doesn’t work 🫤

@VoiGAS Depending on what you exactly want to do and what type of phone you use (Android : OK or iPhone : not OK), importing a GPX from another app could work: https://forum.suunto.com/topic/9782/import-gpx-in-offline-mode
-
@tuxella Yes, Offline Import to Suunto works. But you also need an app that supports offline route planning. For Komoot, it doesn’t work…

Thanks for all the answers !
Yes the problem is planning a route offline.
The kamoot work around could be interesting though… I will look into it.
The idea behind was in the case of a hike somewhere with no signal and if I want to plan an alternative route because of bad weather for instance, or any other hazard. -
For this case i use offline map app on my phone.
I can recommend Osmand (OpenStreetmapAndroid).
All kind of map management is possible there and also offline navigation + GPX export.
Here i do all the things for what the display of a watch is to small in generally.
