Maps Partial Update Rollout, August 2024 [Limited Countries]

@pavel-samokha Unfortunately no areas I’ve downloaded but on the other hand, contour lines are useless here in The Netherlands
When map updates are available, will users be notified through Suunto App or will it update the maps automatically on the next watch charge? Or is this forum the only place to get informed about the updates?
-
@surfboomerang availability of update is visible in Suunto App offline maps library and it’s automatically downloaded on the next charge within WiFi connection range
-
@pavel-samokha
You forgot the country between Finland and Norway.
But no worries, we will wait patiently…️ -
@Sempre-Avanti
They “forgot” lots of countries between Norway and Spain too. We will also wait -
They forgot all the countries between Finland and Norway, if you consider starting from Finland and moving east.

Updated to the latest OpenStreetMap data
Elevation contour lines available up to 2-5km zoom range (depends on the location)This is fantastic news, and thank you for making this happen! Many in this community have been waiting for these changes, and there is much more appreciation than these first few posts suggest.

I’ve heard there will be a small neighborhood race very soon around these places.

Feedback on the update is appreciated. Update for all places will be later this year.
Strange, no people gave any feedback ?
As near the big mountain my local maps are updated, i can give some feedback.
First, thanks for the job on this.Second : my feedback collected during latest hikes.
i am sure that the altitude between countour lines for each zoom level has been discussed heavily while generating the new maps
I am just opening the discussion for others also to comment.500m zoom : contour lines are separated by 10m, right ? like for below zooms.
Map is at the limit of having too much lines.
The threshold between very steep areas and flatter ones may be difficult to determine to have perfect experience everywhere.1km zoom : not exactely sure what is the elevation between lines (30m ? 40m ?)
it is also (to me and in my area where slopes are quite steep) little too much lines. but we can definitively see the suroundings.
2km is nice :
5km : nice as well but some strange “straight lines”

@Mff73 Wow! This is exactly what I have been waiting for! Can’t wait to get this update! Thanks for the post
-
I just want to show my appreciation here. Even though I don’t live in any of the supported regions, I really appreciate this being rolled out slowly. I was almost giving up hope. Now I trust it will come to all/most maps reasonably soon. Thank you!
-
sound like a Tour du Mont Blanc i think!
-
@pavel-samokha Any updates on when we’ll see map updates for other regions? End of year still the goal? Thanks.
-
@duffman19 it’s on the table ofc, but I can’t promise when exactly update happens
