What sport mode is missing from our watches in your opinion?
-
Via Ferrata (Iron Path), a specific Mountain mode (walk + climb), which could give separate statistics for the approach/hike parts and the via ferrata itself.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I think that E-Bike or E-MTB could be a simple option in the actual bike or mountain bike sport mode…not others similar/same sport modes.
The best would be the integration with power sensor inside the ebike/emtb but I don’t know the tecnical problem…(es. Ant+ or BT technology …)
-
@matteo_000 I think that is integrated already for some Shimano no ?
-
@enriqueescoms It depends what the definition of sports is. It’s more about regular activities, and this one is one of those. The watch includes, for example, fishing, hunting and hiking, it is difficult to count them all as sports;)
-
Any motorsports are missing. I understand that this imposes a huge speed to be measured by the watch, but at least one of the modes could include cruising in small motorboats right next to sailing.

HIIT and Tabata protocol training
-
@Alejandro Just from my own experience I will write that you can easily create them yourself by choosing circuit training as a base, and this one is in the list of sports modes. HIIT and Tabata can be very different, and I guess that Suunto leaves the flexibility to customize them.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos yes, but it requires a Plus slot, and, like the Di2 gears is only good for Shimano users (I think ~20% of the market).
We have five bikes in my house, and none of them have Shimano… it’s progress, but feels more like a marketing exercise, like the Stryd integration, but could probably be moved from ‘specific sport mode’ to ‘ANT+/Bluetooth eBike sensor that can be integrated into the bike activity, or a custom bike activity’.
-
@Ars-Vitae there is actually a motorsport activity already

I’d like to see a sport mode for 24hr loop races (backyard ultras, Endure24, Equinox24 etc.) where there are significant stopping periods and repeated loops of the same course. I can see some cool options for auto start/stop of a loop based on gps and pace (after you’ve done the first loop) as well as a display showing how the current loop is going compared to previous loops. Also, auto-switching to low power gps once a rest period was detected in order to save battery and a rest timer. Possibly even the ability to stop and then resume a workout - when you select the mode it could offer to extend a previously logged workout completed within the last 12 hours, for instance.
-
I miss efficient way to create my custom sport mode generally. I think if Suunto work on this feature a bit it would solve lots of requests above.
Or at least ability tag TAG your activity automatically based on custom sport mode you are executing: See here
-
@stromdiddily Yes please +1 for Rucking
-
How about gardening…? I know it’s not a sport, but it’s proper physical exercise. Man, sometimes it’s can be taxing.
-
Guys I created this feature request. I think it can help lots of you waiting for new sport mode.
-
@jsuarez my partner would agree with you, makes me think of the lawn mowing activities people upload to Strava.
-
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos Not to knock ANY of some of the suggestions here, as looks like it’s a complete brainstorming exercise, would it be possible for someone to define what some here consider a ‘sport’ activity is?
Dictionary.com defines sport as “an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess”.
Or:
“…a contest or game in which people do certain physical activities according to a specific set of rules and compete against each other.”

Cross Country Skiing is a must for a finish company. I know the sport mode exists, but it should really have some unique metrics.
Garmin has something special for XC Skiing -
@VoiGAS power: they show power in XC skiing, have for a while. They were very proud of it. No idea if it’s useful, though: my feet are too wide for any XC ski boots I’ve seen.

@Ze-Stuart Really? How? With wrist power or Stryd? Do you have more information on it or a source?
