@Johan-Ulijn I have gravel cycling sport mode, you don’t?
No, I didn’t find any. Is it out of the box Suunto or did you create a new sport mode yourself?
-
@Johan-Ulijn I have gravel and indoor cycling as well on my Race S. You should on your Vertical, too. What Firmware version do you have?
-
@brettacher You have A+ Swimrun

-
What is the best sport mode to track a Stairmaster session?

Yes, now it is there. I can see. I started a few months ago with indentifying my gravelrides with a label because it was not there. Could it be that is is pretty new? Or maybe I missed it…
… Doesn’t really matter. It is there now… I am happy…
-
@Johan-Ulijn there has been an update that introduced a couple more sports modes does not list them. So, they should have been older…

This may have been mentioned by others but…splitting mountaineering into “Alpine” and “Expedition.” It might mean renaming current mountaineering into Alpine, and adding Expedition (and for expedition, automatically default to the lowest drain battery configuration?)…

I sometimes do SM system, it is kind of excercise as physiotheraphy for spine. I track it as stretching but maybe something more specified could be done. Maybe “physiotherapy” or some like that.
@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos what do you think?
Here is some description in english https://www.sportovamaserka.eu/en/massage-types/sm-system/

This would be great, I also do this excercise and track it as stretching with the remark it was SM system.

Ski ergo

Ski ergo
I am curious, what would ski ergo mode possibly capture on the watch? I use ski ergo machine weekly doing a couple of high intensity sessions and record it as a part of my overall gym session. I don’t think the watch would be smart enough to capture any useful data from the arms motion, especially considering that the watch is only on one hand. Personally I wouldn’t bother using it probably because my ski ergo sessions are very short.
-
Do someone know the difference between these two sports mode:
- randonnée à ski
- ski de randonnée.
Both are available in SV2 (in addition to skimo, but this one make sense)
-
@sky-runner my ski ergo can be up to a hour. There so many other sports modes where you can wonder what is the point with it. So why not add ski ergo?
-
@Stefan-Kersting I suspect that when Suunto adds a new sport, they have to consider compatibility with the FIT standard because activities are exported to third party platforms. FIT SDK is owned by Garmin, but it is de facto standard for fitness data file format followed by every company. If Suunto adds a new sport that is not supported by FIT SDK, there is a risk of future incompatibility. I’ve just checked and I didn’t see SkiErg there. In other words, I suspect Suunto has to follow Garmin’s lead because Suunto is a much smaller company.
-
To expand on FIT SDK supported sport profiles, here is what I see in a recent version of SDK. These are sports that could theoretically be supported by Suunto of they care about third party compatibility, which they should.

There are a few sub-sports that can be combined with the above sports. For example “running” can be combined with “treadmill”, “trail”, etc. As another example, “fitness_equipment” could be combined with “stair_climbing” - that is something that was mentioned earlier in this thread. I see indoor_skiing in the list. But perhaps that isn’t the same as SkiErg.
-
@sky-runner and to expand on this there are even sub types. So, an activity tracked as commute could be registered as commute sub type.
-
I’m missing native integration with my Concept2/PM5 rower so I can use the rowing activity profile and get precise metrics.
