Suunto Vertical Titanium - Software Update
-
@Brad_Olwin I’m not annoyed with the removal of that feature. However, I’ve found it useful from time to time. Much faster than now, that requires navigating 3 or 4 levels deep into the menus to change a complication.
Wonder how many users are affected by the “shower” use case vs the users cycling through the complications on the watch face. Also, for those showering with the watch, they can always lock the screen (new feature).
Wondering why this showering and heavy rain issue wasn’t affecting the users previously!
-
@jjorgemoura That was the reason we were given. I don’t shower with my watch and never had issues. I wish the double tap was there as well.
-
Same here. Taking off watch for shower is much more comfortable for the price we no longer can tap for fast change data (even now with lock buttons shortcut). Customization is great but wish to every “icon” we could set few customized options. Maybe in future…
-
Water was always an issue with the watch in time mode. When the watch became unlocked during rain, shower or just a swim it was very hard to get it locked again. There were so many times that my watch face was rearranged because of this. That’s the reason I voted a lot for a lock button.
Now that we have it () I think having the double tap to change the complications feature would be nice.

Old way:
- Hit middle button once.
- Press upper left icon to switch to date.
New way:
- Hard press middle button.
- Press bottom button 1 times to Customize
- Press bottom button 2 times to Complications
4, Press middle button 1 time to see watch face. - Press upper left icon.
- Best guess to scroll up or down to find date.
- Scroll until date appears.
- Select date.
- Swipe several times to return to watch face.
And Suunto actually thought this was a better solution?
-
Since the middle button had to be touched to activate the touch screen. How would heavy rain ‘re-arrange’ the watch face?
-
@ExtremeTMM What if you have: raise to wake?
-
I still have to hit the middle button.
-
@Brad_Olwin This heavy rain and shower argument I don´t really buy. You have to press the middle button to unlock first. They should have kept the tap function for complications. For those users having difficulties in the shower and in the rain, they may only select one complication. The other could have multiple.
That this function has been removed is really frustrating. It sure was useful when not exercising. The rigid watch faces are just awful. As for my self, I downgraded again to 2.33.16.
Under 2.33.16, in a day to day environment, the watch is much nicer to use. The frustration factor is gone.
-
@ExtremeTMM Yep agree. Go figure!
-
@Norbert how did you downgrade?!
-
@GiPFELKiND using the service menu in the watch
-
How to use the service menu ?
I have a bug with my Race S. -
@Egika can you please explain how to start it? Perhaps with Picture? Thx
-
@Mi_chael which bug do you want to solve by downgrading the firmware? Usually with higher firmware versions a lot of bugs are solved.
Btw: this is a Suunto Vertical thread - maybe discuss your issue in the Race S section? -
@Egika
I know, i also post it in the Race S section. -
@Brad_Olwin To read that there were functional test versions makes it even worse. Suuntos advise should be, for those who have difficulties showering and in the rain, only install 1 complication. Then no tap through. Perhaps, default setting. Problem solved. The rest may configure and shall have multiples.
With the Ambit series, one could change complications with the push of the button. S9P by tapping. So now, the whole concept has been thrown out the window? And for what? For the sake of selecting an individual one?
Staggering!
-
I understand that there are some bugs here and there on the firmware. I’ve noticed some already listed here and in other threads.
I expect that Suunto will do a minor firmware update with bugfixing and some other features, seeing the page on the site there.
But as other moderators and members pointed out the roadmap of 2024 will be full improvements! So we have to wait and see
-
@Egika Same as the others, I have battery drain with the new firmware, looking for a way to go back to the previous version
I tried pushing the top and down buttons at the same time, but no service menu -
@GiPFELKiND From the Andrew Nugged FB Forum:
Quote:
If you have the older package in your watch you may be able to.
Settings/general/about. Scroll all the way to the bottom. Hold the bottom button until the debug menu opens. Select OTA package. See if you have the old one there. And remember to turn off auto update.
But I think there are too many benefits to get hung up on the watch complications.
Unquote:It worked for me.
The previous version 2.33.16 was still stored there. You select and install. You then you need to disconnect and pair again the watch with the app.
No issues since and a much more pleasant user experience.
Hope this helps.
