Suunto Race S general discussion
-
Does anyone know if Race S UMTB World Series will be restocked on Suunto website any time soon?
-
@dulko79 No idea but I saw it available at
https://www.sport-conrad.com/en/products/suunto/race-s-sc-2.html -
Is it possible to create strength training functionality in suunto app and into watches? muscle maps, exercises?
-
perhaps in the future it will be possible to build a route to the points (POI) ?
-
seriously? the Titan doesn’t have sapphire glass?
-
@Sportsfreund yes. Race S has Gorilla glass.
Has been discussed before.
Titanium saves almost 10g of weight. -
@Egika kinda makes the usecase for having titanium pointless. Just like how garmin did with the 965 - titanium frame handicapped by a cheap gorilla glass. So much for durability!
-
@altcmd except for people who have skin that reacts to stainless steel… (me!)
-
@altcmd again. Titanium is not there for ruggedness. Screen material is independent from body material.
All Verticals for example have Sapphire regardless of steel or TI body.
All Race S have Gorilla Glass regardless of steel or TI.BTW. I have just ordered my TI Race S this morning. It will arrive tomorrow 🥳
-
@Egika clearly - aesthetics over practicality.
-
@altcmd different offers for different users.
-
@Egika have fun with your gorilla glas.
-
@Sportsfreund I don’t get the fuzz.
Have been wearing Race S steel with the same glass since February. Also for rock climbing, via ferrata etc.
No scratch whatsoever on the glass.
If I hadn’t tested the steel version successfully, I would not have gotten the TI -
hello i have using suunto race s about 3 weeks. and i have problem with auto pause. when i trail running it wont to start when i running it still paused so i lost about 3km in that trail running. and after that i using it for cycling, i had same issue about autopause, it jumped when i ridding about 50kilometers i stopped for buy drink, when i start again it jumped to 80km and when autopause traffic it jump to 100km, i still on 80km that time in garmin. i confussed about autopause trash, hope it fixed in next update software

@Egika
ordered the Race S for my wife, too.
I am very convinced by this model and its value to money ratio.
I’ve been using my one a lot, too in the past months and it’s still looking brand new. -
Had my Race S about 6 weeks now, and it’s been really fantastic.
However, the software hasn’t been as reliable as my old trusty Baro. Right at this moment I’m having to reset the watch for the 3rd time since purchase, deleting the 6GB of maps I have on it (which requires around 6 hours to load).
It seems on every occasion, the screen (on raise to wake) goes black, and requires a press of the crown to get things visible. Nothing fixes it. If I go to Display settings the AOD display check button is enabled, but the button is not available to actually change (the wording is greyed out) and as a consequence the button can’t be accessed. Man! it’s annoying.
Secondly, the oHR has been terrible. Almost as bad as my Apple Ultra 2 which is rubbish. However I always wear a strap so it’s not a deal breaker.
Other than the above, I love the watch. It’s just frustrating. I won’t bother reloading the maps, I just don’t have the patience anymore.
-
@Jeffrey-Tillack Did you soft (12 s upper button) or hard reset ?
When I soft rest, it doesn’t delete the maps. -
@Kramble ugh didn’t think to try that.

Hello everyone,
First of all, I’ll start by saying that I’ve been a Suunto user for 2 years – I was using my old Suunto 5. After such a long time, even though the watch works fairly well, I decided to treat myself to a new one. I chose the Suunto Race S.
What it “offers” was enough for me to upgrade from my previous usage, but hey, we need to evolve.
How wrong I was…Suunto Race S – the CN version – sorry for the term, it’s a waste of money. At least with the update 2.37.48, because that’s the update the watch forced right after starting it and connecting it to the app.
I don’t even know if what I’m going to describe below is related to the update, the place of production, or just the overall terrible watch…
First, what’s already been mentioned on the forum – the sleep tracking doesn’t work. At all! Neither naps nor night sleep – nothing. What does this mean? There’s no way to collect data for HRV…
Second – the heart rate for the whole day is not correctly transmitted to the app. The same goes for steps. I suspect, because these three pieces of information are all in one place – recovery – something’s wrong with the app vs watch function.
So, in my case, the entire “recovery” panel ends up being empty.
What’s even stranger, the running steps are shown on the app in the “steps” tile, but they are not included in the “Activity” tab. It’s hard to believe this watch is so popular…?
I read a statement in this discussion: “Suunto is not Garmin.” Maybe, I don’t know what Garmin is like and I’m not interested. But I SPENT MY OWN MONEY to buy from this manufacturer, and explanations that “it’s not that accurate” – sure, it might not be precise, it doesn’t have to be – BUT IT DOESN’T WORK AT ALL!
Someone said: “Well, you should measure heart rate with a chest strap anyway.” Sure, I’ve been using it from the start, but then why does the manufacturer include it in the watch, so heavily advertising the HRV feature, if it causes so many problems? Wouldn’t it have been better to make a true RACE watch – without all the “extras,” but with 100% working RACE features – let’s call them sport functions – save the space for a bigger battery and there you go, a “perfect” watch.
Instead, I got a new piece of junk, which from my point of view is worth less than my old Suunto 5.You can criticize me – maybe everything works fine for you, maybe it’s because of the production being moved to CN? What about the watches you describe that “everything works” – where are they made?
I don’t know… I know one thing – I am VERY DISAPPOINTED with this purchase. Since the watch was bought at an electronics store, I can’t return it.
Maybe I’ll just stir up a storm in a teacup, I don’t mind. Maybe this will make the manufacturer PAY ATTENTION THAT SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG.

Maybe saying all this to Suunto’s official support would me more hopeful than posting here. Something is obviously wrong with your watch and it should be replaced/repaired or whatever Suunto’s support deems fit.
