      Hi, guys.

I am many years polar watch user. I recently (few days ago) I just bought SR.

Almost everything is surprisingly well for me (tracking sport activity, navigation – these are the most important things for me), but not sleeping activity.

I read & studied almost everything what I found in the internet. But my sleep tracking activity doesn’t work without heart rate tracking option 24/7! Moreover, every time when I enable sleep tracking in watch menu settings, the watch auto enable OHR 24/7!

So, my question is – is it possible to track sleep on the modern firmware without enabling OHR 24/7?

      Thank you.

      Best regards,
      Konstantin

@metaman no, sleep only works if you are using 24h HR.

          @isazi Thank you, got it!

I thought so from my experiments. But it’s strange, because I never seen this relation in any manual/docs 😞

          Best regards,
          Konstantin

@metaman The HR is the only way to understand if the watch is worn I guess. For example the watch will not be able to differentiate from wearing it while sleep or just left on the table.

@EzioAuditore It’s very interesting moment! For example, Polar watch (like m430 or GritX – I have both) use only sleep time (for example, from 22.30 till 7.30) and internal sensors, but NOT OHR at all. From the other side – Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (which I also have) work like Suunto (use OHR & internal sensors). But all the watch has the same result at the morning - the sleeping time correctly recorded.

But Suunto use another algorithm. It’s like Samsung Watch, but only with OHR 24/7 and not Smart OHR which can be enabled only in some moments when watch suspect sleep. I think this is more advanced algorithm because it can record not only one user defined sleeping time but every time when user sleep.

              Best regards,
              Konstantin

@metaman Sure all makers implement their solutions. Samsung as well as Apple are disabling the constant HR to preserve battery otherwise they would have wanted to have 24/7 for better results and accuracy.

                  Hi
Recently got a race, with a former 9 baro.
I was using sleep tracking without HR 24/7, I don’t like the green light all day.
Now with race is not possible I have read.
Could it be possible auto enable HR for sleep tracking only between sleeping hours?
It would be an interesting solution for this issue.

                  Regards
