Beta firmware for sync issues 2.33.16
-
Hi, I installed the beta firmware on my RACE the afternoon of Wednesday, since then I recorded several test activities, some with HR belt and some others requiring GPS, all of them synchronized without any problem. Also the routinely sync of the watch, GPS data (optimizing GPS performance), Weather, etc … now occurs smoothly, no more broken communication between SA and watch, which caused the sync process to start over and over again. I’m very happy and quite confident that issue have been finally solved
Will keep testing and let you know.
Many thanks to all the people that worked hard to find a solution! -
I have installed this beta FW on my S9PP, which had no sync issues before, and it still has no sync issues after neither.
But I am happy for all suunto users if this is fixing this bad bug for them and concentrate again on enjoying adventures. -

@Dimitrios-Kanellopoulos I’ve suffered with sync issues since the update that started it all, I had problems as everyone describes but at some point my activities have managed to sync but still sometimes it will take days of trying before the sync happens. I’m so pleased this could be a possibility of a fix for my Suunto Vertical but just a little concerned, I have an important 100 mile ultra run where I require the watch for navigation & obviously to record the race data, would you recommend?
-
I’m afraid I continue having sync problems. I’ve been trying to download this firmware since yesterday following the supplied instructions but to no avail. In fact, the watch/phone have stopped syncing altogether (in the past activities would actually sync over night).

@Jophusarian
Dilemna. Don’t update, not sure you will sync your 100miles. Update, and you will test everything, and hopefully everything is good.
Don’t you have a couple of days to test before your event? And if any issues, might one find a solution before your race. -
@Jophusarian being a hotfix, the Bluetooth sync is the only change, so if I was affected (my watches are not) I would update.
-
Did you successfully manage to update your watch to 2.33.16? You can see this under ‚settings‘, ‚general‘, ‚about‘.
Sorry for asking such a simple question.
I was only able to update after erasing all activities from the watch, since the non-synced activities blocked the update process.
-
@ortles Yes to the above. There was only one unsynced activity which I deleted. There’s also the sleep data which I haven’t deleted yet. Would you suggest deleting that too? Thanks!
-
Hard decision to take!
I guess no one can guarantee here that it will work under all circumstances. But I would say it’s very likely that the update will improve the situation, at least not worsen it.
If you have the chance to try out before the race, I would give it a go, if I were you. But that‘s just my opinion.
Please keep us posted, it will be super interesting to hear if sync now works for longer activities as well
-
I don’t know if unsynced sleep data can block the update, because I don‘t record sleep data myself.
If it’s not a big issue for you to loose that data, I would erase that as well from the watch and then update to 2.33.16.
I have to say that until now I could only test the update with two shorter activities of 60 mins. I could sync them without problems under 2.33.16, but of course this is quite little testing so far from my side.
-
But if I understand you correctly, you successfully updatet to 2.33.16 already - so it’s a different situation, I have to admit.
-
@ortles well, that’s the issue. I can’t download 2.33.16 onto the app in order to update the watch. The app keeps showing ‘checking for updates’ or ‘your software is up to date’ @ 2.33.14
I’ve now deleted all the activities from the watch, removed and reestablished bluetooth connections, restarted the watch and the phone. Not sure what else to do. I really don’t want to be doing another hard reset if that’s not going to do the trick. -
@Zoltan
did you follow exactly the linked instruction? -
@freeheeler yes, I did.
-
I’m using 2.33.16. Yesterday I encountered a possible bug - the backlight was constantly turned on, outside of an activity. After restarting the watch, the issue was resolved. The normal behavior is that the backlight turns on only with specific wrist movement. Hope this helps.
-
OK, I understand, the problem is that, for some reason, you can’t download the update in Suunto App. SA starts searching for the update but doesn’t find it, right?
Unfortunately, I have no idea, what you could do then. Maybe do a hard reset as last resort, and then give it another try? But that’s just a vague idea from my side.
I did exactly the steps 1-7 as described in the instructions and could update doing so. The process that I went through is described prescisely with these steps. Finding / downloading the update in Suunto App took quite a while, I guess around 10-15 mins. I didn’t use my mobile during that time and just let it work.
I hope that you somehow successfully manage to update, even though I can imagine you have already tried a lot in the meantime…

@Zoltan
I didn’t have sync issues but do the update process anyway to maybe get an idea what issues you might be facingedit: worked flawlessly (iOS)
-
@Zoltan
did you try logging out and in again in SA? -
I just updated, although I haven’t experienced any issues so far. A curious experience, which (in the end) resulted in losing connection altogether. The remedy was removing the watch (S9PP) from my (IOS) phone settings and vice versa in the watch, followed by logging out of SA and then back in again.
The update in now complete!

@freeheeler I’ve managed to get the update/transfer going on my phone (android). that’s the good news. the not so good news is that after 10hrs it’s only at 13%
