Hi there! I’m new to Suunto devices and to this forum so my apologies if this has been posted before. But I didn’t find answers in previous posts.
Here’s the thing: I’m trying to create a sport mode for intervals running with the custom data I need. I’ve tried the following configuration:
      Display: 4 fields

      • Current interval repetition (to see how many intervals are done and how many are left)
      • Interval max HR (to keep track of my max HR during an interval)
      • Interval avg pace (to view my pace during the interval)
      • Current interval duration (to view how much time is left in the interval or during the recovery period)

Then I’ve created a structured workout with 5 intervals to test this new screen. However, it doesn’t seem to work as all data fields stay empty. It’s like my workout is not considered as intervals.
I’ve created a new screen replacing intervals with laps (lap number, lap max HR, lap avg pace & lap duration). It’s better, at least it’s counting an interval as a lap (but it also counts recovery as a lap, so after 1 repetition and 1 recovery you get to lap 3).
My question is: how do you configure your data screens for intervals? or any other sports or workouts? I guess I can learn from you, so please share your best tips.
      Thank you!

@Iheb-Kaabi to be honest, I always used the default interval screens, and in the last years the S+ guides, so I would not know how to achieve what you want, or if it is even possible.

@isazi thanks! I’ve already looked into S+ apps. I really believe the interval data fields should do the trick, but I don’t know why they are not working.
The default screen shows the target pace, average pace, countdown and the HR gauge. I guess it’s usable, it’s only missing the repetition number.

@Iheb-Kaabi it’s strange that you have all data fields empty when you create a structured workout. I used it some times and I never had problems, I will test again.
Normally I use a third-party service, a web interface called intervals.icu where I create my workouts (mostly for running but also other sports, even stretching movements if you want). When I add a running activity with specific intervals on a given date on the calendar interface of that application, that workout is synced to my watch that will ask me if I want to follow it when I start a run on that day.
This way you have one “interval” face that you cannot customise, but for me it’s good enough.

If my intervals says to run at a given pace (or pace range), the watch face shows me

            • avg pace (during that interval)
            • target pace
            • time or distance left till the end of the interval (based on what you had selected)
            • distance or time
            • HR

Alternatively, if my intervals says to run at a given HR (or HR range), the watch face shows me

            • current HR
            • target HR
            • time or distance left till the end of the interval (based on what you had selected)
            • distance
            • pace

You’d also see a little counter showing current/total number of intervals, e.g. 1/4
You can even add a command when you create workouts to choose ending intervals pressing the watch button instead of automatically

            S9PP
            S5

The interval data fields only work for the intervals you can create on the watch. It doesn’t work with structured workouts created in the app. When using structured workouts, all we get is the Suunto Guide screen (which is not customisable).

I think you should get the repetition number, if you create the workout on intervals.icu.

@Francesco-Pagano thanks for the reply. The data field I’m missing the most is the counter, especially when doing 12 repetitions or more. I will check intervals.icu, I didn’t know about this service.

@wmichi okay it makes sense, I didn’t know you can create intervals directly from the watch. As I said to Francesco in a previous comment, I didn’t know about this service, I’ll definitely check it. Thanks!
